THE bouncer charged over the death of former test cricketer David Hookes would face a 10-day preliminary hearing in November, a Melbourne court was told today.

Zdravko Micevic, 21, appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with manslaughter over an alleged fatal attack on Hookes outside the Beaconsfield hotel in St Kilda on January 18.
Hookes, 48, died at the Alfred hospital from injuries suffered when he was allegedly knocked to the ground near the bayside hotel.

Micevic has previously indicated he would plead not guilty.

Dressed in an olive suit, the accused stood silently today as magistrate Duncan Reynolds extended his bail until a 10-day committal hearing starting on November 15.

Micevic later hid his face under a black jumper as he walked past the media outside the court.
