He is on video as clear as day. What sanctions are possible? I say kick him out of all AFL games for good, we don't need scum like that in the stands. |

I hope the putrid moron gets publicly exposed and the Richmond football club expels his membership for a lifetime but i bet ya he aint a member.
What sort of a person would this guy be in real life.
Football supporters have got to wake up not just richmond supporters to stand beside a race and spit on players coach and officials smacks loyality and devotion in the face.
You get behind your club in troubled times and support like never before to do otherwise just shows what a shit person you really are!!!!!
If i were a richmond supporter after what took place last night when frawley was leaving the ground i would be absolutely imbarrassed and ashamed!!!!!

I think it is an entirely embarassing reflection of our society today - IT IS ONLY A GAME! And no matter what way you look at it it is still the same - a GAME.
There has to be a winner and a loser - Richmond lost. They should get over it. If a supporter who spits and acts like a complete moron, isn't happy then give the club away - and that goes for Collingwood too. I doubt they would be missed.

When your team is playing badly, it needs even more suport from you to turn things around. I dont see how Bitchmond are ever going to get this kind of dedication with morons like that. Absolute disgrace |

Spitting on ones own players is pathetic.
I've always considered the majority of Tiger fans as morons, BUT I can understand their frustration. They do have a decent list & yet they continue to fail. It's not the players fault, the club chooses a coach(Frawley) & he then selects his own support group(Brittain).
Frawley will be gone in a month or two, Wallace would be a fine replacement, but would an experienced coach want to go to Punt Road? I think not.

Apart from the obvious appalling behaviour (spitting), I particularly noticed two other extremely disturbing aspects.
1. Danny Frawley being escorted off the playing area, completely surrounded by security.
2. As the Richmond players approached the race at half time and at the finish, several could be seen looking upwards, almost in fear of what was about to happen.
Didn't people have to 'run the gauntlet' with the enemy on either side - not their own supporters ?
Quick definitions (Gauntlet) noun: a form of punishment in which a person is forced to run between two lines of men facing each other and armed with clubs or whips to beat the victim.
I think Jen's post hit the spot. This is a game, a sport. It's a wonderful and unique sport. Please let's not have rival supporters in cages like we see in some other countries or the players' races completely walled for their protection.
And let us also bear in mind, these incidents are not necessarily typical of footy supporters or even Richmond supporters. The cameras will zero in on anything controversial and highlight it.
We did see groups of Crows' fans looking very happy in celebration and, on the other hand, groups of Tigers' fans just sitting there, looking sad, resigned, even devastated but not exhibiting anger or shaking fists. _________________ Donny.
It's a game. Enjoy it. |

I saw the photo in The Age ... and it's an ugly sight. Players doing the walk of shame with their own supporters cursing them.
My reaction was not so much "typical Richmond supporters" as "typical football fans".
Anyone who thinks this is just a Richmond thing is looking at it through their arse ... all clubs have supporters like this ... INCLUDING Collingwood ... and let's not try to kid ourselves with our own bullshit.
I fear we will see the same scenes after the ANZAC Day game. I hope I'm wrong. But I can't honestly see us taking tomorrow's flogging any better than those Richmond idiots last night. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |

I heard on the radio that the richmond supporter(not sure which supporter it was) is banned from all telstra dome games this year(i think he should be banned from the mcg as well).
*I may have got it wrong, this richmond supporter has a life ban,not a 1 yr ban*. _________________ Jarrod Molloy

Just a bit of reality, and I won't win any fans on this, or other pie forums, for saying this, but............
Please do not tar all tige supporters with the same putrid brush that this guy deserves. Most are passionate about their club and would never contemplate the disgusting act this moron did.
Like it or not, the majority of fans from all AFL clubs are just like you and me. |

Yep, I feel sorry for the real Tiger supporters out there who must have been embarrassed by the actions from a handful of morons.
As for the guy caught on camera spitting, he should feel lucky if he just gets off with a ban from TD. Spitting is regarded as an assault under the Victorian Crimes Act and can also result in civil action under "battery" as a trespass to the person. |

Well well well, don't we have a pack of angels in here all of a sudden.
Now I definitely won't be winning any fans with this post. But who gives a rat's...
Why don't some of you guys take a look from a different bloody angle. This kid does look to be about 18 years old. I saw him implicity spit and I immediately thought, ahhh mate you grubby little fool. But is he a hard criminal.
I see the word disgraceful, pathetic etc to describe this guy. And his behaviour certainly was. No excuse. And indeed some sort of sanction should take place. Say a 3 week ban. (How that will be enforced god knows).
But consider this angle, there are alot of people who know who he is, family, acquaintances etc. His name will come out. I love the high and bloody mighty saying ban him for life rah rah rah. Grow up. Life is full of regrets and mistakes. Do you guys honestly think the guy is happy with doing it and indeed being recorded for half a million people to witness?
No.
Obviously if the camera didn't get him his regret would be certainly less.
Why did he do it? Well, he lost control didn't he. Again, a little suspension or whatever would be appropriate.
The guy clearly has misplaced passion. And that is all it is. He loves his team so much it hurts and a clearly random reaction was spitting to which there can be no condoning but he will learn his lesson. And hard.
How many of you religious creatures have done something grotty, mean or downright obscene and been ashamed of it. Dare I say all of you.
Plenty of years for an 18 year old to grow up and for that matter change.
Imagine the pressure this guy is under now. Get off the easy target. Sure, have a go and say it was pathetic, cause it was, but he loves his club and he did something wrong in the madness, anger, frustration and emotion charged night that Richmond hosted.
Permanent sanctions of a life ban is malicious and bloody docile. Anyone calling for that should consider their own sins and see if this sort of harsh retribution would be damn well welcomed by you as a course of punishment.
Spitting is a filthy low act. I suggest he knows it, but you guys cannot tell me you wouldn't look at this guy in the face and say 'I feel your pain-I obviously wouldn't show it the way you did, but I appreciate the hurt'.
He made a dumb mistake that has and will be scrutinised way beyond what is fair and just. And indeed it is apart of media history now that is available to show infinitely.
I think he should get a few weeks then everyone build a bloody bridge and leave him alone. _________________ It was love at first sight. |
