Today's Herald Sun on page 9 has a list of the clubs membership numbers at this stage.
Adelaide: 45,582
Brisbane: 26,012
Carlton: 23,300
Collingwood: 32,174
Essendon: 32,081
Fremantle: 27,799
Geelong: 17,200
Hawthorn: 21,978
Kangaroos: 15,594
Melbourne: 15,200
P.Adelaide: 32,310
Richmond: 22,892
St.Kilda: 22,200
Sydney: 22,500
W.Coast: 38,193
W.Bulldogs: 11,800
If you haven't signed up, buy a membership. Essendon are closing in on us they are only 93 members behind! We need to get to 40,000 again to prove that we are the number 1 supported club in Melbourne! |

when did port move ahead of us?
as for our count, some supporters need to see some excitement, we unfortunately have not provided any so far. |

I blame the media
Everyone has hyped up Essendon and the young bummer supporters are easily influenced.
All the negative press we cop would have everyone think Williamstown will be playing as us.

Agree JLC, the media have to cop the blame for continually proping up and pumping up the bummers.
On the sport radio shows such as sports today on 3aw and to a lesser extent 1116 SEN you here nothing but essendon this and essendon that then if its not the bummers they focus on Sin. Kilda.
I find these are the clubs that get far too much air time:(vic clubs)
bummers ( who would have thought)
sin.kilda
hand baggerlong (cats)
tradtional hype on carlton and richmond i guess they need it _________________ How was Wimbledon! |

I remeber the same thing happened this time last year. Tthe bummers get all the hype and then the bummers 'decide' all of a sudden to sign up members. Like if Collingwood footy club used the media or if the media were doing the same thing to us then everyone would be up in arms about it. But you seen its not Collingwood so it right for the bummers.
Oh yeah last years start from essendon was petty woeful and looked some what shaky then the membership number started to dry up. Essendon to me are just a wealthyer sprused up Richmond. 1 word bandwagoners. _________________ How was Wimbledon! |
