Don't write Pies off
11 March 2004 Herald Sun
Mike Sheahan

Quote:
FROM all we have seen and heard during the past month, Collingwood is a team whose spirit was crushed beyond repair in the 2003 Grand Final.

The Wizard Cup and practice matches have brought three defeats from three starts, with the margins as high as 105 points.

I think we can finish higher than 3-6 and i think a few new players will be tried this year. Malthouse knows we need some new blood in the team.

Amazing. Shite Mike bagged Buckley for years. Now he has five years left in him. No thanks Mike. It will take a lot more than one article for us to forgive you.

What will be interesting is that he releases his Top 50 this Saturday in the Herald Sun, wonder where Buckley will be?

that top 50 has been absolute rubbish every single year.

Shite mike will never be able to redeem himself after years of pathetic anti-collingwood articles.

Buckley has been the number one player in the AFL for bloody 5+ years. I wanna do a top 50 writers and then bag the shit out of Mike Sheaman.

We will finish 3rd or higher. Mike Sheaman will come out saying he has infact been a Buckley lover his whole life too. haha

Yes, as a 'leading' sports writer for so many years, he still knows so little. A bit like the Peter Landy or Sandy Roberts of his caper.

I think any punk from the outer could have done a better job than his puff piece summation of our chances. Did you see his 'core group' - Presti, Wakelin! Taz is barely mentioned but he dribbles on about Lonie and Didak 'who owes the club'. And who picked the 'best 22'? No idea.

Like Kramer, when it comes to his articles its often a case of 'he's a loathsome offensive beast, yet I cannot look away!'

Dont like Sheahan myself, but I agree that finishing 3rd - 6th is a realistic expectation for us.

The bit i find insulting is that Essendon will finish higher than us ?? Rolling Eyes

He is relying upon two recruits (from one of the worst teams in history) Allan who hasnt played a decent season in years and Murphy who last time i saw him was nothing special to be a part of an Essendum renaissance.

Who honestly gives a flying fig what dorks like Sheahan think(?). Like racing tipsters and weather forecasters, their records suggest their accuracy in the reading of tea leaves is somewhat lesst than 100% perfect.

Hacks like Sheahan are paid to sell papers, and being 'controversial' i.e. bagging pies, does that. Pretty easy life when you think about it, churn out a couple of hundred words a day tipping a bucket of shit on us, and hey presto, add another 100,000 in sales to your rag!
