Suddenly Haddin and Mark Waugh take 38 from 3 overs.

Waugh is 37 from 27 balls.

With rain preventing a win in Hobart, the door is open for The Bulls and closed for NSW.
-----------------------------------

With 17 overs left, The Bulls need 6 NSW wickets to enter the final.
---------------

Waugh and Haddin have added 60 runs from 6 overs. Fascinating stuff.
-----------------------------------

Waugh brings up a quick 50 and will end up with a better first class average than his twin.

Waugh is certainly going out in a blaze of glory. NSW can't make the final so it's definitely his last game.

He's 71 n.o. from 47 balls and Haddin, 51 n.o. from 37.
------------------------------------

Bichel (4/60) gets Waugh for 72. They need 4 more. What drama.

Bad luck for Waugh, I was hoping he'd go out with 100, what an end to a great career. Going to be a fun 10 overs, 70 runs need by the Blues, and 4 wickets needed by the Bulls.

They need 3 wickets from 42 balls and it's getting dark.

Bracken out, Bulls just need one more wicket to claim the win.

Too bad we had bad weather down here, I was hoping Tassie would of made the final and have a good go at winning it this year. Oh well, there is always next year, maybe we can get some more wins under our belt and actually play off in the final.

Vintage Waugh knock not enough

Fox

MARK WAUGH saved his best for last, blazing 72 runs from 49 balls in his farewell innings, but Queensland reached the Pura Cup final with a heart-stopping win over NSW at the SCG today.

Having set NSW 277 runs from 55 overs to win, the Bulls took the wicket of Glenn McGrath with the final ball of the second last over to win by 37 runs and squeeze into the decider ahead of Tasmania.

The game finished under lights at 7.34pm with McGrath facing part-time offspinner Chris Simpson with eight fielders huddled around the bat. He was caught at silly mid-off for two.

The Bulls will now face Victoria in the Cup final from Friday at the MCG.

NSW declared their first innings on their overnight score of 4-196 before a ball was bowled today and to set up a result after 46 overs were lost to rain, the Bulls declared their second innings on 1-54.

After Steve Waugh was dismissed for nine, Mark hit seven fours and three sixes to finish his first-class career with a better average than his illustrious brother.

Mark finished with 26,855 runs from 368 matches at an average of 52.04 compared to Steve's 24,052 runs from 356 games at 51.95.

NSW could not make the final after Tasmania secured first innings points today against Victoria, but the Bulls were still alive.

Fast bowler Andy Bichel took 4-69 but he was forced out of the attack when bad light became a problem, only for part-time spinners Simpson (3-Cool and Aaron Nye (1-15) to take a combined four wickets.

Wicketkeeper Chris Hartley executed two superb stumpings, especially one down leg side to get rid of Nathan Bracken for four.

There were 4.1 overs left when McGrath went to the crease.

Maybe McGrath needs some more batting sessions with Waugh as his coach to work on his defence. Because that is what is lacking from him, or maybe Gillespie should give him some pointers in defending. Becuase Dizzy is pretty good at defending.
