Dan Carter

In just two seasons, Daniel Carter has become a key member of the All Blacks and in 2004 moved confidently into the crucial pivot role, filling the boots of modern legends Andrew Mehrtens and Carlos Spencer. Already an excellent goalkicker, Carter is an ever-improving tactician and, with his quickness, is dangerous with the ball in hand.

After debuting for the Crusaders in 2003, he became an All Black that same year, displaying huge talent at the tender age of 21. He was a member of the title-winning Crusaders Development squad in the 2002 season and top-scored for New Zealand at the 2002 Under 21 World Cup in South Africa with 72 points, including a haul of 25 against England.

He made an immediate impact in the black jersey with a strong debut against Wales in 2003, featured as an impact player off the bench during the Philips Tri Nations success and then rubber-stamped his potential with an outstanding Rugby World Cup.

Carter capped a sublime 2004 winning rugby’s supreme award, the Kel Tremain Memorial Player of the Year.

When Carter isn't throwing himself at opposition defences he is a keen stamp collector.

i like Daisy he has a cute smile and is cheeky. I call him a Fraggle cos of his hair. It'll be interesting to see what he looks like in ten years. I've been watching the soccer a bit (barracking for the socceroos of course) and in between fast forwarding most of the match against Japan cos the world game is so bloody boring, i noticed John Aloisi and Tim Cahill. Bit of all right! Wish AFL players would celebrate a goal like Aloisi... rip the shirt off and run around the ground swinging it!
