Why did Haddin play ahead of Campbell ? Is Campbell injured ?

Clarke, North and White earned their places although how come Clarke is in there AND in the VB series squad ?

I hope he does well but I must ask. How did Shaun Marsh get a game with virtually NO form ?

Where is the Blewett, Elliott, Maher or Dan Marsh (all in form in the one dayers) in the batting lineup to guide the youngsters ?

What do we gain by overlooking Rogers, Hodge and both Husseys and why is Tait in there ahead of Nicholson ?

I think the selecters decided to draw names out of a hat, this has to be the weakest Ausralia 'A' side I've seen. They should find the person that selected this team and give him a drug test. There are players that I would of put in rather then some of these guys. I can't believe someone like Blewett or Elliott wasn't captain of the side, not to say that Clarke didn't do a good job, it's just that they needed a leader that has played alot of International cricket.

The funniest thing is that the luckiest player to be there was in fact the best performed. Shaun Marsh the son of Geoff looks like a gun of the future. I wouldnt be surprised if by the end of the summer he isnt in the one day team. I would rather have in the team than Shane Watson.

Its a pity he doesnt have another string to his bow such as bowling.

The selectors went for youth. However how the young players were chosen is a mystery.

The selectors chop and change their selection policy as and when it suits them.

How exciting were last 4 wicket partnerships?! I think by the end of the summer, Marsh may play for Australia. I also heard the Tait wasn't much of a batsman. Whoever told me that was very wrong!

Zimbabwe sneak home

ZIMBABWE warmed up for the upcoming triangular series with a nailbiting eight-run win over the next wave of Australian cricketers in Perth tonight.

Chasing 241 runs for victory, the youthful Australia A team was all out for 232 in the 49th over under lights at the WACA Ground.

Hometown hero Shaun Marsh (57 off 58 balls) led a rearguard action before the last pair of Adam Griffith (33) and Shaun Tait (22 not out) produced a defiant tenth-wicket stand.

The combination put on 53 runs and sent a major scare through the Zimbabwe camp which had earlier ripped through the top order.

The tailenders had the equation of needing nine runs off seven balls when Griffith spooned a catch to man-of-the-match Stuart Carlisle at backward point off Sean Ervine's bowling (4-44).

Classy Zimbabwe opener Carlisle (100 not out) earlier carried his bat as he steered his side to 240 from 49.5 overs.

His team should have recorded a larger total but not for some over-ambitious running between wickets and not respecting the fielding ability of the enthusiastic youngsters.

The visitors, who reached the Super Six stage at last year's World Cup, have two more matches to prepare to play before taking on Cup finalists Australia and India this month.

Zimbabwe plays Western Australia on Sunday at the WACA before another clash with Australia A on Wednesday in Adelaide.

Swing bowler Douglas Hondo (2-34 off 10 overs), who missed October's two-Test series with injury, put the squeeze on the inexperienced opponents from the start of their run chase.

Hondo started waywardly, but soon had the ball moving in the right direction and had Dominic Thornely (one) edging to second slip Mark Vermeulen in his first over.

He then claimed the prized scalp of Michael Clarke (eight), having the Australian one-day player top-edging an attempted pull shot which wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu caught after initially stumbling under the high ball.

Quick Blignaut (2-27) continued to turn the screws, having a frustrated Shane Watson (five) hit the ball straight to Grant Flower at mid-wicket.

Ervine trapped Brad Haddin (25) on his crease before Blignaut deceived Marcus North (nine) after having him dropped on two.

Taibu then took a fine diving catch to dismiss Cameron White (two) off Ervine's bowling as the home side slumped to 6-66.

Nathan Hauritz (17) and Marsh tried to put some respectability on the score before the Queensland spinner fell to spinner Ray Price (2-53).

Marsh, who has had a poor summer to date in the domestic competition, then started finding some form as he and allrounder Mark Cleary (29) put on 54 for the seventh wicket.

But just when the tourists' grip appeared to be loosening, Cleary smashed a catch to Vusi Sibanda at long-on off Price's bowling.

Ervine picked up Marsh's wicket after Blignaut took a brilliant one-handed catch in his outstretched right paw on the boundary.

It was the second outstanding catch of the day after Clarke earlier grabbed a one-handed diving catch off a full blooded cut shot from Ervine.

The ball was motoring away from the talented New South Welshman but he managed to somehow hold onto the hot chance.
