Just posted on AFL website:

Balme is quoted as saying that Nick only wants to come to Collingwood and talk of Melbourne and Carlton is pure speculation.

Hmm looks as if the situation might indeed be just like with Nick Davis last year - in which case we might get him for maybe not a bargain but a very good deal. I wonder who we will end up trading, Scotland could be one but maybe already gone? and Mcgough for example? But they need a big defender, maybe Wakelin could go as has been suggested - that would be a pity but I think we'd still be ahead - however don't want to strengthen one of our main competitors too much. would be a luxury for Port to have 2 clones of the same key defender.

They won't take Wakelin because of his age.

Port put pressure on both Collingwood and Stevens to do something by Wed!? or else!! - or WHAT, you idiots.

The longer this goes, the better it would seem for us securing Stevens.
Port is becoming frantic, as Stevens has obviously nominated Collingwood and most of the early suitors have now dropped out. If we keep cool and nonchalent, this will sweet.

Of course this could all just turn around and bite us on the bum with Stevens "elated to be going to a great club on the rise like Carlton"

I don't think so. lol

I reckon make em sweat a little more by saying, ' Take picks 17 and ? now or you'll only get pick 17 2morrow'. This might make them get their act 2gether.

? = I' m assuming we are getting something in return for Scotland and that is whats being used not our pick 32 which is probably to low.

It was just on Ch 10 news that his manager has told PA deal with Collingwood or get nothing & he will go to Carlton in Pre-season draft.

Apparently we have offered McGough, Scotland & pick 17. They reckon they aren't interested in McG or Scoots.

Stiff. Take them or get nothing!!

interesting article:

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=124189

Seems hes going in the draft now... Port don't wanna talk turkey with the pies. I honestly think presit should make way for stevens. As miserly he is a a defender, he is still unbeliveably awkward with the ball.

no way - presti is a gun, and we can't replace him, but with mcgough and scots we can - with stevens too! Why wouldn't port want scots - he's just what tehy need, and mcgough will be too, given a bit of time - a good hard in and under ball winner, not a receiver, which is what tehy've got plenty of over there.

Port aimed to high, and shot themselves in the foot, well done, bitterness costs them a chance at getting something for the loss of Stevens.

In the interests of goodwill the Pies will probably give the Power a draft pick and a player or two.
