Post subject: Can anybody tell me what happened with Brad Oborne? | |
|
I always thought he was one of the most exciting prospects on the Collingwood list. I remember his first game in 99 up at the Gabba. Although he didnt play as well as the commentators said he did, he still played really well.
Why was he delisted?
Was it a problem with Mick?
Are we going to redraft him as Geelong did with a couple of their players?
I agreed with a lot of the delistings this year, but this was an exception. You don't waste two years on a guy who obviously has talent, and then delist him. |

Spot on Magpie Mark! It would be fantastic to re-draft Brad. I am not sure why he was delisted, and if Collingwood didn't want him on the list could we not have traded him to get value from him? It annoys the hell out of me to see one of our top picks just disappear from the list. Yes we had to cut back but maybe we could have traded him to another club for another youngster in the same situation. Brad was an All Australian for crying out loud!!!! |

Oborne was delisted for his off-field antics and his lack of team play... |

What were these off field antics?
Were they that bad that he should have been delisted? |

For some reason Oborne was never in MM's plans.Only gave him 1 game in midyear(only after his VFL form demanded it)against the cats and didn't give him much of a run then either and the next week he was dropped for no reason.Same case goes for Jacotine as well.Have to assume it was due to off-field issues. |

Oborne was a third round pick in the same year we drafted Nick Davis. A contrast in careers so far for sure...Oborne lacked a right foot and for a potential goal sneak could not kick more then 40+ meters on the run accuratley. Had seen him in many seconds games and I often wondered how the hell we ever drafted him. Atypical example of a Father-Son rule situation that failed. Do not consider re-drafting the boy plz..We aim to Progress not to Regress..... |
