Post subject: History 'FLASHBACK' # 1..MANASSA'S RUNReply with quote

The Grand final replay at the MCG 1977 it was a sunny day, the MCG was packed spectators were literally hanging from the rafters. what was about to unfold will live in the anals of football history forever the pies needed something they were being beaten, somebody had to ignite the collingwood team enter Phil Manassa...the following is a transcript from Peter Ewin : "Manassa to drive collingwood deep into attack.Goes for a run..almost towards the half foward line he is now. He's gone 50 metres! fakes the handball, no feigns the handball..he wont give in Manassa. He'll shoot for goal..and he puts it through, he's put it through By golly what an individual effort."

Watching the manassa goal and run still gives us goosebumps down the back of our necks it was no doubt the greatest individual performance ever in any grand final.

Cheers everyone
Please stay tuned for more history FLASHBACKS Smile

Thank you for the footy history lesson Mr Joffa.
Can I please go to the toilet, Sir? Wink

I agree mate, when I look at stuff like that gives me goosebumps and makes me prouder to be B&W. Same with Micks run.

PS. They should teach more subjects like this in school!

Seriously he was a very good footballer Manassa Worthington Cooper was indeed a very formiddable backline.

This week's history FLASHBACK salutes Phil Manassa.

When Lonie made his run recently , I thought of both the Manassa run and gabbo's.
Love all to do with Collingwood!
