Post subject: What do umpires look at???? | |
|
I often wonder what the umps were looking at when they miss an obvious decision.
On Sunday, Piccione/Lonie were in between the umpire and the ball. If he was looking at the ball, or the players going for the ball, he must have seen Piccione hit Lonie.
He then sees it on video and lays a report.
It would seem then that he didnt see the incident at the time...my question then...
WHAT THE HELL WAS HE LOOKING AT?????
A few weeks ago, against Coasters I think, Tarrant was dragged to the gound in a one out marking contest. The ump said play on. On the replay, you see the ump was not looking at them. By the time he did, they were both on the ground. Again ...
WHAT THE HELL WAS HE LOOKING AT??????
Surely they are instructed to watch the players and not the flight of the ball. |

i dont think it was the players or the flight of the ball he was looking at. I think he actually caught a glimpse of himself on the big screen and was thinkin "Caaawww, he's alright!" and that 2 second distraction was enough to miss lonies head getting knocked off. He only noticed it on the replay because he'd slow-mo'ed the footage to check himself out again, and then spotted the actual incident in the corner of his eye. |

Maybe they are scared to make a report. In case they get it wrong.
It is easier doing it on the video, when there is a few of them watching.
Who knows. |
