Post subject: See the Pies stars of tomorrow at 1pm Saturday ABC (Vic) | |

Don't know what you will see in other states, but Victorian based Pies fans can watch the stars of tomorrow go round for Willy on ABC TV this Saturday 14th at 1pm.
Maybe Dale can give us a few clues on who and what to watch out for. I'm keen to see Justin Cloke's progree, and I notice Guy Richards is also a possible starter.
I'm also interested to see good ol' "Far" Kinnear apparently re-inventing himself as a full-forward. |

I've posted a preview, of sorts, in the VFL forum.
As already mentioned, keep an eye on Shack (#31) who could start on the ball, and Bo Nixon (#15) who could possibly start on a wing.
Cam Cloke should get plenty of air time as I predict that Guy Richards will be unlucky to get a run as the weather won't allow for too many talls on the ground. Stunning should start in the ruck (and needs a strong performance), and when rested, Cloke will then take over the ruck duties allowing Baldwin to move to FF and Kinnear moving up the ground to CHF.
It's highly unlikely that Lones and Scooter will play as they'll most likely retain their spots in the senior team. The predicted wet weather could also see McG get a senior recall, so that doesn't leave a lot of CFC listed remaining.
This could be the first time most of you have seen Dane Swan, so I hope he turns in a blinder as he is due for a big game. Rupe will provide the aggression, ably supported by Richie Cole, so something to watch for is the body count these two leave behind. Freeza could be the key as his experience should be a guiding light in the testing conditions.
Of the Williamstown players, Troy West, Brad Lloyd, Josh Mahoney and the running machine, Adrian Fletcher are all class at this level, and Sam Cranage is like a terrier and never stops trying. Marcus Baldwin could struggle in the wet conditions, but his bulk will ensure the ball is often at ground level for the likes of Anderson, Smoker and Hollow to clean up. Add Molly to the forward mix and the Hawks defence could spend most of the afternoon looking over their shoulders wondering where the next hit will come from.
Jeremy Dukes has become a fan favourite for his straight ahead style of football and the Hawks forwards could be in for a torrid time if Dukes is zoned in to the task at hand.
This leaves Lokan as the wild card. He has played well in senior company so far this year, and should be able to handle anything dished out at this level, but as a Morris Street 'rookie', will need to adapt quickly to the tricky conditions that have made Point Gellibrand a difficult ground to master for both first timers and opposition teams.
I'll be there come rain, hail or shine, so I hope to have plenty of pics from the game, and as I will also be taping the match, I'll attempt to compile a comprehensive match report over the following few days. _________________ Whale

It was an interesting game. Cole played reasonably well. Betheras was excellent. I liked Nixon. McKee had a pretty ordinary game, though. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Final Score:
Williamstown: 1.3.9 ~ 2.4.16 ~ 5.7.37 ~ 7.8.50
Box Hill: 0.3.3 ~ 2.8.20 ~ 4.8.32 ~ 8.13.61
Any further match information will soon be found in the VFL forum. I'll be posting pics from the game shortly, and once I've watched the tape of the game, will compile a comprehensive match report. _________________ Whale

Geez - what about the umpiring??? Talk about one-sided! In fact there were a couple of decisions that pretty much cost Williamstown the match (which even the commentators mentioned) - we don't even have to be wearing the black and white stripes and we still get crucified!!!!!!!!!
GO PIES!

The umpiring during the match was pretty good.
However some very ordinary decisions during the last half of the Last Quarter cost Willy the game. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you.
