Post subject: BANG ON THE FENCE AT THE GReply with quote

Morning all,

I have just read in the Age online that banging on the fence at the hallowed MCG, in celebration of a goal or for any other purpose, has been banned on pain of eviction. Apparently, the advertisers who pay for their billboard space don't like your grotty little hands obscuring their slogans.

Football USED to be a people's game, but sadly this latest attack on our liberty to make our own fun (fun which is not hurting ANYBODY else) demonstrates once again how the powers that be who think they run the show are increasingly captive to corporate interests. Admittedly, these interests sink a lot of money into the game we love.

And so do the supporters.

Magpie fans and friends, I urge all of you going to the game, especially those in the cheer squad and anyone who can get near the fence, to bang on it with all your might, after each and every goal, even maybe the Hawthorn goals, and then even harder still for the Collingwood goals. Hell, bang on the fence all bloody game. See if these oafs DARE to evict you all en masse.

The MCG is the home of SPORTS FANS. Prove it, for the sake of the dickheads at AFL house who STILL don't get it, before the stadium's naming rights are given up and the famous G becomes Cadbury Castle - in other words, just another brand name.

Prove it by banging on the fence. Loudly. Hard. Constantly.

Show them you care.

The Weed

Unreal isn’t it. What are they going to do evict 10000 a game. They better get more thugs on the payroll then as I feel there will be a riot.

Obviously a directive from a Sydney where most advertising comes from, as they have no clue about attending sports events.

They are kidding themselves.

The AFL in general has lost direction and Jacko is leaving the deck of the Titanic and handing the wheel to the moron Andy.

It has got nothing to do with hands obscuring slogans, its because of the new rolling billboards at the MCG. The AFL fears that banging on the rollong boards might break them.

I'm pretty sure they will evict everyone they can get their hands on, after all the Cheersquad got evicted from a game (admittedly it was in WA) for waving their flags!
Apparently the chardonnay drinkers couldn't see the game properly.

That scrolling advertising is so distracting anyway - it deserves to be out of action.

Seriously, it is stupid.

Bring back the days when the cheersquads would decorate all the fences as well - that truly looks unreal.

Was it the WA cheer squad or a Victorian one? Could you imagine the riot that would happen trying to evict the Collingwood cheer squad with 60000 in attendance?

I didn't think people stll did that, well at the MCG anyways, I really haven't banged on a fence since I got a big Collingwood flag (I really looked fun at a Glenorchy game Very Happy )

It would be funny seeing the AFL eject half the crowd because they bang on the fence, not in the sense that people are being kicked out, but the AFL making a joke of going to see a game of Football and getting to bang on the fence.

Those Chardonnay sippers over here in the west don't watch the game but that do have a serious problem with others supporting Collingwood (or anyone apart from the eagles). Seriously, they cannot handle a "cmon pies" or even "YES!" when a goal is kicked.

Don't start me............ that evil gremlin will come out of me and then I'll have to smash every living wet toast bandwagoner there is.

Just one thing. If you bang on the signs, will entry prices go up to pay for the fixing of them?
