Post subject: Who is the best Captain?Reply with quote

Crawford has a Brownlow and some serious personal problems.

Do I care if little Shaney Waney is having trouble matching his meeja commitments with his Club commitments?

I don't think so.

Our Captain has seen the lows and seen the highs. He never wavered.

NEVER!

And while there is still a way to go this year, the Collingwood Captain is oozing Leadership with every breath he takes. With every interview. With every game.

Walt Whitman spoke of a Captain in the following verse. Who do you suppose it sheets home to?

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

2

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

3

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Go Pies! Exorcise those Demons!

Nathan Buckley is the most consistent Captain.
His presence is awesome.
His leadership is exceptional.
If the umpires liked him he would have at least 3 brownlows.
Ho Bucko

I'm with you nitric and Magpie JOE.

Nathan Buckley is the most consistant player (unlike James Hird)

A terrific leader - leads by example

Also can string a few words together when in the media.

He is just perfect all round and that is my unbiased opinion.

Did we not have this debate a month ago? Why don’t you make it the worse Captain and #1 there is Wayne Campbell.

Every Captain has their qualities as leader that's why they get chosen to be Captain. All individuals and all play differently and different roles in their clubs to say one is better than the other is a non acceptance of who they are and a non appreciation of quality footballers.

Crawford tries his guts out each week. Look who is coaching them, they guy forgets his medication what else does he forget to do when coaching. There are 21 other players who run out on the field with Crawford, to single him out and say he has personal problems and it’s affecting his performance and costing his team games is bullshit. He would be in their best 5 every game.

My best 3 Captains in no order are Buckley, Voss & Cousins.

Poor Shane, no one seems to take the guy seriously....okay my mind is out of the toilet now....

I would have Shane Crawford as 2 or 3.

I think Shane Crawford dug his own grave last year some time. I remember reading or hearing something, from his own mouth, that he was taking acting lessons or wanted to take them. I think some people took that on board and are just burying him for it. As for The House of Bulger dribble every Thursday, it's hardly something to take seriously. Apparently they film it in like 2 hours or something, if that!

That's my 2c anyway.

And why has this turned into a Crawford thread?

The End.

There is life after football and Shane is looking at that, he knows he can't play forever. As far as what he does on the house I am really not interested more pissed off that people are blaming him for the Dawks form. The coach has not got a clue, that's my 5c worth. Razz

It turned into a Crawford thread when the original postie wrote, "Crawford has a Brownlow and some serious personal problems. Do I care if little Shaney Waney is having trouble matching his meeja commitments with his Club commitments?"
