On the news tonight port announced that in heritage week round 19 that they want to wear their SANFL jumpers.

Their is NO way Collingwood would allow this!!

Port Power and Port Adelaide are 2 SEPARATE clubs! Port power have no heritage.
Port Adelaide's first jumpers were grey and pink I think.........thats what Port should wear if anything.

If Port Power ARE the old Port Adelaide Club est 1870 then does that mean there is no longer a Port Adelaide Club in the SANFL?

I think not.

Regardless of who Port Power think they are - Collingwood ARE the Magpies in the AFL and have been since long before Port Power joined.

Tuff Titties.

Yeah today apparently Brisbane announced they would be wearing an old Fitzroy jumper when we play them in round 19. Don't Port Adelaide understand that we were the first club before them in the AFL and that we should be the only club wearing the black and white jumper!

If Port Power can wear black and white again, so should Cygnet seeing as they were Magpies in the now defunt HFA (Houn Football Association) and once they joined the SFL (then STFL) they changed to being Port Power same as Port Adelaide. But here's the problem with Port Adelaide's AFL club, they aren't Magpies, they are the POWER, so they should only be allowed to wear their first AFL jumper. Seeing as Port Magpies, and Port Power are 2 different clubs. But it will be up to the AFL to decide this.

There is a club in the S.A.N.F.L. called the "Port Magpies". They were formed in 1996 to replace the old Port Adelaide Football Club that was formed in 1872 and left the S.A.N.F.L. to join the A.F.L.

The Port Magpies wear the same strip that the old Port Adelaide club used to wear when it was in the S.A.N.F.L.

I really couldn't care two hoots what colours Port Adelaide wears in round 19. They won't be playing against us, so what does it matter? They can wear purple and pink polkadots for all I care. If they want to wear their old S.A.N.F.L. jumper as a one-off historical thing, then let them. They look nothing like the Collingwood jumper anyway, so what's the problem?

In a totally unrelated issue ... expect a big shit-fight over who wears what at next week's Port-Collingwood match in Adelaide. The alternative strip issue has been raised by Mark Williams in a heated interview with Eddie last night. Last year Port wore the all teal strip to avoid a clash. Now they want Collingwood to wear a different strip. Eddie says "no way". I say Eddie's wrong. This probably needs a separate topic.

Collingwood ajumpers are black and white Vertical stripes ... after that it does not matter - but just becasue those soccer poofs change jumpers and prance about doesn't mean we have to follow their lead ...

A magpie playing in red indicates a bloodied or injured bird - I think the club should look at getting sponsors who have a black and white design - or get them to update their design to conform with our club !!!

Go Pies!!!

Suggestion of the top of my head if we were to ever change the guernsey for clash reasons:

how about a predominantly white top with a big black thick stripe down the chest.

keep the black
keeps the white
keeps the stripe?

yeah the club in SANFL is like a previous poster said the club is now the Port Adelaide"Magpies" Football Club ,est 1996 , dont worry no one is asking you to change your logo or your jumper, were just paying homage to our our proud history by wearing it one off in round 19, Port have no problem with Collingwood having the Magpie name or there jumper, thats the reason the nickname "POWER" was chosen as we have always been a traditional power in football and no one can dispute that, but surely even Collingwood shouldnt deprive us of displaying our heritage

Port Adelaide Magpies may be powerful but thats the SANFL a total little league compared to the old VFL The VFL is or was so much stronger than the SANFL

mate if its good enough to count on your VFL heritage then is good enough for Port to on theres, yes VFL has consistently beaten South Australia in state games but if you want to get down to premiers vs premiers teams (Port Vs Collingwood premiership teams) well Port has beaten Collingwood in the times we played the "Champions Of Australia cup", but even im not silly enough to hang my hat on that, Port Adelaide has always been the big fish in the little pond and deserves it right to be in the AFL your own captain is from this club, but we will gladly have him and Didak,Wakelin and Loken back Very Happy

Port Adelaide were once known as the Cockledivers for a short while in their early history.
They were also once known as "The Pivotonians".
1870-77 - Port wore blue and white guernseys in its first 7 years.
1878 - Port changed their colours to pink and white.
1900s - Port Adelaide were known as the Magpies, and wore black and white vertical stripes, with a black yoke.

So Collingwood were black and white
before port adelaide magpies were !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
