Robbie Armat was the first Aboriginal to play at Collingwood? I maybe a little young, but I don't remember Collingwood having any Aboriginals playing in their side. Only a handfull of Greeks/Itialians/etc. And as Cam said, Mal Michael isn't an Aboriginal. _________________ "The minute you start talking about what you're going to do if you lose, you have lost." |

Unless they count Adrian McAdam, he was on our list but took off before the season started and never actually played. _________________ If you bleed black and white you'll never walk alone. |

Some friendly advice from the Moderators:- lets keep this thread a celebration of the fabulous skills that our indigenous brothers bring to the game.
We aren't here to discuss what does or doesn't constitute racism. |

Wasn't there a player by the name of Wally Lovett that played in the early 90's? He may be the fifth that was referred to.
As for Bux being half aboriginal, I don't know where you get your info from Magpie Dan, but you couldn't be further from the truth. His folks transferred up to Darwin to work in the Education Department, which led them to work with the local aboriginal people, and this is where Bux played his junior footy. As a junior, he played senior footy for Southern Districts, then went back to Adelaide for school commitments and to play for Port Adelaide Magpies. This is the reason why he had to play for the Allies during State Of Origin as selection was based on where players played their first game of senior football. _________________ Whale

Glenorchy hadn't had many Aboriginals in their team, at count I only remember 3 (Wayne Hogan, and 2 others from W.A dom't remember their names) anyways, The back story behind these guys are, that when Hogan was dropped from the Senior side he claimed it was because of him being an Aboriginal. Which wasn't the case, he wasn't playing good enough so he decided to walk out. And see the head of the aboriginals here in Tasmania and then the 2 other players decided to go "on strike" atfer the game. Hogan and the other 2 were fired from the club and after that Glenorchy were considered racists. _________________ "The minute you start talking about what you're going to do if you lose, you have lost." |
