Definitely Rocca, we have won the five games in which he was captain. Tarks may not be even assured of a game when he comes back from injury let alone captain. See how he recovers from the knee, it's not as if he is a great player now. Clement a possibility. Not Didak he wanted to go home until they threw a lot of money and benefits at him. And he is more the selfish type player who lacks discipline.

magpie_1983, for someone who claims to be Didak's No 1 fan, you, of all people, should know that Dids was recruited from Port Adelaide.

As for a future captain, you would need someone who puts in 110% every time he runs out, being training or game day, so my choice would be Scott Burns (if he is still around when Bux retires), with Licca and Ant in the mix, but what I've seen so far of Cameron Cloke, he could be a chance to replace Bux's replacement.

In the year 2090: Our future captain will be a clone of Nathan Buckley.

what type of comment is that? Evil or Very Mad
tarkyn is already ahead of schedule with his knee and we all know he will be come back better than ever and will continue to be a vital part of the team.
you mite want to look at the past copeland trophies and see where he has polled. he is a great player and so important to collingwood.

I'd go with Rocca as captain. He is peaking and he has shown the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck when needed. Usually plays well in the big games and is justifiably a favourite of Mick's for this reason.

Here's a more contentious suggestion, though. What do people think of the idea of relieving Bucks of the captaincy - maybe even next year - to allow Rocca to take over? I'm not querying Buckley's leadership; he has grown into his role and is a great captain, and of course he may have no intention of giving it up to anyone.

But for the sake of taking some pressure off him and maybe even prolonging his career, as well as giving the side the opportunity to grow under the leadership of another player, it may be just the tonic for the troops.

Just a suggestion - what do others think?

i think the issue of a new captain in a few years time is certainty, but i do believe Buckley is playing great footy now and will for a couple more years until we'll have to think about him stepping aside.
Mabee if we gave Rocca, Lica, or Tarks a run as captain in the Wizard Cup, just as a relaxer for bucks...he might even play better without the pressure of leading. Bucks still has a great years left in him, and he will be the Captain when we hold that Premiership Cup up on the last Saturday in September, mark my words...
