Did anyone else notice in the last quarter Tim Lane's unnecessary (and desperate) comment about the '79 Grand Final?

It came after Bucks pumped the ball 60 metres from the centre to the forward pocket and it ran out of bounds.... Tim Lane blurted "Sorry Collingwood fans but that is almost the same spot as the '79 Grand Final". Funny, I would have thought that was was 100 km's away from "that" spot given that AAMI is in Adelaide and the MCG is here.

I guess Tim was cut that his beloved Carlton had just lost to St Kilda & he had to have a go at Collingwood to make himself feel better..... You poor small little man

I can tell you what people he was one hell of a sorry looking lost SOD when he was having after match drinks at the HYATT ADELAIDE last night with those other Collingwood haters Messrs Walls QuaterBrAIN and Harry Potter him self Gerard Whateley. Well despite his comment about the 79 Grand Final, (thought that just a bit of fun) I thought he was really praising us last night. Can't remember word for word but in the last quarter, he said something about champions getting up off the deck and that Collingwood had done it 2 or 3 times so far in the game. Also said how gutsy we were last night and in the granny last year. Still the best commentator in the game, despite his allegiances to the Scum.

If you thought Tim Lane was bad, you should have tried listening to that well know paragon of impartiality and fairness.....5AA. !!!!!!!!! They were soooo bad in the post match wrap. It was all the umpiers fault, the last score was a point, Adelaide were by far the better team etc etc. I wanted to ring them, from over here, and ask what was the final score, and get them to repeat it and repeat it and repeat it.

Yes, it's true that Tim Lane is a prick, after meeting him in Tasmania during his time doing TFL football in Tasmania, I can safely say that he needs a new hobbie. After all, it wasn't us Glenorchy suppprters calling him, names, it was the Nothern Losers (Bombers) Football Club supporters!

I hate him, but it's only because of how he bags a team without even seeing them, and not because of his broadcasting skills. didnt take his comment to heart but had to laugh when it took him several minutes to return to calling the game when the final score of saints V blues came up on the screen. quartermain read the score - absolute silence from lane. shame that.

tim Lane occasionally makes uncalled for remarks regarding our losing grand finals, usually to remind him of a Blues success, but in my opinion is generally a balanced, objective caller and last year gave us heaps of praise when we were on the way up.
