But wouldn't Chris Judd put himself on the draft anyways? Or do you think that West Coast would trade him off to a club for another footballer?

From today's Age article on how he won't re-sign. We should have a crack at him.

Port midfielder linked to Pies

Star midfielder Nick Stevens yesterday would not commit to signing a new contract with Port Adelaide, leading to mounting speculation that he was interested in a move back to Victoria. Collingwood is believed to be leading the pack of interested parties.

Stevens, 23, has been one of Port's standout players this season, averaging 28 possessions in the six rounds. He is out of contract at the end of the year.

Stevens had a meeting with his manager on Tuesday, and seems to be keeping his options open.

"We've spoken about things and . . . I guess they (Port Adelaide) are just talking about it at the moment. So, yeah, they've put an offer and we're going back and forth," he said.

Stevens did not rule out a return to Melbourne and was in no hurry to sign a new contract.

"Aw, who knows?" he said. "Like, you never say never in our day, so who knows down the track?

"I've been here, this is my sixth season now, so it's been a great club and no doubt, I'm sure, if I keep going out there and playing footy, the contract will take care of itself.

"I'm happy just to go out and play footy and if it gets solved in the next month or later on in the year, it doesn't really bother me because my No. 1 thing is to go out and play footy and make sure we get the wins on the board as a team."

The Magpies poured cold water on the suggestion that they were chasing the midfielder, Collingwood football manager Neil Balme saying the club had not contacted him.

"We certainly haven't approached him," he said.

Balme said it was routine that any high-profile player coming out of contract became linked to Collingwood. "It's not a story unless Collingwood are pursuing him. Why can't someone else be pursuing him?"

Stevens has lifted in recent matches to help cover the loss of Port's No. 1 midfielder Josh Francou, who has had a season-ending knee reconstruction. There are just six players at shorter odds for the Brownlow Medal.

When you consider that Richo and possibly Freeborn will retire, and half of Buck's salary gets freed (as he goes on to the veteran's list), we'd have plenty of cash right there.

Then of course there are those salaries that will be traded away and delisted.

Yes I kno hes my fave player and all and of course i am gonna comment on this issue, but the reason i luv him so much is becoz hes a fantastic player and a gr8 guy to go with it ( not to mention hes hot Wink ) so i dont kno where u got that idea from?? just remember hes only 20, hes got many years of great footy to come at Collingwood!!! I kno thats only peoples opinons and its not gonna happen, but still...

We actually had Nick Stevens so to speak. He trained at Collingwood when he was with the Knights. He was a big time collingwood supporter too...and I understand was very keen to be drafted.

Tony Shaw didn't like him so the club ended up picking James Wasley ahead of him....makes you want to cry!

Same year as we drafted Tarrant.

I may be wrong, but when we picked Tarrant and Wasley I dont think we could've picked Stevens, as Tarrant was our one allowed 17 yo for that year. So it was either tarrant or stevens.

Were do you get your information from 'The Zapper'

Please stop making things up without having facts.

The boys are absolutely correct.
During that draft period we could only draft one 17 year old and it was Tarrant

thanks
