Post subject: Second team out of Queensland | |
|
In the Sunday Times WA it has been commented that a second team out of Queensland should be introduced.
I bet the Brisbane Bea (oops) Lions wouldnt like that too much. |

Another propped-up AFL love child ... Just what we need
The only reason Queensland can currently support one team is because they've rigged the last two premierships for them. Take away the salary cap concessions and the Brisbane Lions would be playing in front of a stadium full of cane toads.
No way can they support two teams ... and there's no way we should have to put up with another club being made artificially competitive for the sake of the AFL's evangelism. |

I say bring it on....the sooner we get another team out of Queensland the sooner those mongrels up north have to start competing for membership dollars. This plus all the issues that come with having two teams in the one state can only bring them down to a much fairer playing field with the rest of the competition.
Look how much the power and the crows hate eachother,...the same goes for the eagles and dockers. |

What a joke....another team from Queensland...who is running this AFL - the tellitubbies??? Surely either Canberra, Tassie or Albury/Wadonga should be in line for an AFL footy team before queensland gets another. To suggest that there is enough support up here for 2 teams is ludicrous.
When are the AFL going to wake up to themselves???
Surely if St Kilda are losing money a relocation to Tassie would be on the cards....Say the Hobart Saints and why North haven't moved to Canberra is completely beyond me.......Western BUlldogs would do well in Albury/Wadonga and there would be more than enough support for them....I wonder how long the AFL expect teams like ourselves and the other Big Melbourne clubs to support teams thier won supporters want nothing to do with....

The 'Lions' wouldn't probably care. In fact they'd probably like it as it would allow for an AFL game in that state every week, promoting the code. In fact any new team would be average initially and hence it may increase the interested in AFL in QLD, but nobody is interested in losers so maybe it would effectively increase the Lions' support.
Anyway, there's been talk of Southport entering the AFL for years, it's nothing new.
The AFL would also dearly love a team out of Western Sydney. It would play at Telstra Stadium (the Olympic stadium) which the AFL has already paid $$$ towards converting for AFL, and then Sydney could focus on their 'traditional' home at the SCG. Hence why the AFLs most popular club, Collingwood (us), went to Western Sydney for it's community camps thingy this year. |
