Update: I didn't realize this is not the first time it's happened... And he had heart surgery over the summer following the first time.

Gotta be a worry. Sad

Not the first time it's happened. He previously had another episode during the Championship playoffs last season, and was subsequently cleared by the medical professionals to return to play.

Sounds like he's on the mend thankfully, but he has tough decisions to make on his playing future.

Will "consult with specialists in the new year".

As the article below says, part of a "worrying trend"...

Tom Lockyer the latest in a worrying trend of athletes suffering cardiac-related illness

https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/12/17/tom-lockyer-the-latest-in-a-worrying-trend-of-athletes-suffering-cardiac-related-illness/

'A young and otherwise fit athlete suffering cardiac-related illness is rare but by no means new phenomena.

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen was given life-saving cardiac massage treatment on the pitch during a Euro 2020 match against Finland.
...

Eriksen was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and to the delight of the football world made a full recovery, returning to action six months later...

Former Spain and Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas was rushed to hospital in April 2019 after suffering an "acute myocardial infarction" while training with Portuguese club Porto.

The goalkeeper made a full recovery but never played again before officially hanging up his boots in August 2020.

Heart problems in footballers disproportionately affect African players, studies show.

Burundi international Papy Faty died after collapsing during an eSwatini – formerly Swaziland – league match in 2019 while former Manchester City midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe lost his life after suffering heart problems during a 2003 Confederations Cup match on international duty with Cameroon.'

Media say Jordan Henderson wants to leave Al-Ettifaq, but if he returns to the UK he'll have a huge tax bill.

The Mirror tips Celtic as a possible destination.

But Klopp said: "Did Hendo have a press conference and say [he wants to leave]? So it is just written? That means for me it is not existing. He hasn't called me. We spoke actually but not about that but I really have nothing to say about that."

Newcastle United v Manchester City this weekend in the Premier League and the stats don't make for good reading if you are a NUFC fan...

Newcastle United have won just one of their past 32 Premier League games against Manchester City (D5 L26), beating them 2-1 at St James’ Park in January 2019.

In their Premier League history, City have won more games (30), scored more goals ( 98 ), and kept more clean sheets (22) against Newcastle than against any other opponent.

City have scored in each of their past 30 Premier League games against the Magpies, the longest scoring streak one side has had against another in the competition's history.

Newcastle beat Manchester City 1-0 at St James’ Park in the League Cup earlier this season. They haven't beaten City twice in the same campaign since 1983/1984.

HT: Chelsea 1-0 Fulham

Raheem Sterling has won a penalty which was converted by Cole Palmer. It's the 26th he's won in Premier League history - three more than any other player.

^ We held on to win 1-0.

Three consecutive PL wins. The first time we've achieved this since October 2022.

Four consecutive HOME PL wins. The first time we've achieved this since July 2020.

In what circumstances do you believe it's okay to work in that country/region?
