Stats in the OP still apply. We've improved in almost every area. Last year we had 5 losses of over 60 points, this year one. Last year we were in the bottom 4 for scoring, this year we finished 6th or thereabouts.

Despite being younger than last season we have improved. Unfortunately we are 0-7 on games decided by less than two goals. That's a terrible record and the reason why we missed the 8.

Inky, mathematically we improved there, despite winning less games, so one can presume the player's fitness/application was therefore an improvement from 2014.

Yet the game plan remains a mystery, and the disposal levels sometimes border on Auskick standard.
If Hamish McL starts interviewing our players at half time during the Friday night games in 2016, asking players their pets names... WARNING....

While that's all true, it's also true that we won more games last year despite suffering a massive injury toll in the 2nd half of the season, whereas this year we've had a very healthy list for most of the season. So in some respects we've improved, but in others we have not.

We certainly beat more opponents who finished in the top 8 last year.

We had a softer draw this season with a better run with injury overall also.

We did however lose a lot of experience again at the end of 2014 so our list was probably younger overall.

This point needs to be considered.

Right now the "honourable" losses against quality opposition and the debut and further exposure at senior level of our kids is the main thing we're hanging on to as positive signs for our immediate future.

Have we improved?

Maybe. Probably.

Do we need to improve again next year?

Damn straight.

You're right, but it is very difficult to measure the effect of injuries, it's more analysis than comparison. The improvement is there whether it's due to individual players getting better or our list being healthier. You could say the healthier list is part of the improvement Very Happy.

Yeah we have improved slightly on last season, but other teams have improved more than what we have.

Yes we have improved our depth which is the problem we faced after 2011. We lost a lot of experience over 2010 - 2014 through attrition of older players and judicious trading out. It seems that we have got experience into key young players and they will improve next year. Overall, the team has been competitive for longer in games than last year against all bar 2 games - Richmond and Melbourne.

If we add Treloar and get Freeman and Scharanberg fit then we might take quite a jump up next year. We should aim for 7th or so.

Next year is critical if we are to persist with Buckley. He got improvement from Crisp Langdon Varcoe Grundy Williams Adams Broomhead Ramsay which ticks one of the metrics he had to hit this year.

Injury management has improved this year with Reid Scharanberg Freeman all heading in the right direction. Fewer soft tissue injuries and we are running out matches much better than last year due to a better training program.

Next step is to improve running patterns and skill execution but with better fitness and experience on the park this will happen.

I am positive that we will play finals next year. If not, then I think Bucks needs to be moved on.
