He's been running, but straight lines only.

Unofficially:

Brodie Grundy - Ankle (TEST) Played out the game. With an 8 day break followed by a bye, I think he'll be fine. If we weren't going up against Gawn, we may have rested him.

Mason Cox - Ankle (TEST) Been listed as a test for a few weeks now. I cant think of a better game for him to return. I hope he is ready.

Flynn Appleby - Ankle (TEST) After a minor set back, should be a test for a VFL return.

Taylor Adams - Groin (2 Weeks) Will be eyeing of the Bulldogs/Roos at Marvel.

Jamie Elliott - Hamstring (2 Weeks) Feels ready now. Will be eyeing off the Bulldogs, but will he have to come back via VFL?

Tom Langdon - Knee (4 Weeks) Resting up. Will be eyeing off the Roos at Marvel or the Hawks at the 'G.

Will Kelly - Hamstring (Up to 9 Weeks) Waiting for some positive news.

Daniel Wells - Knee (Up to 12 Weeks)

Nathan Murphy - Ankle (Indefinite) Waiting for some positive news.

Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)

Quote:
Grundy soldiered on with a sore ankle in the loss to Fremantle on Saturday but is expected to be fine to play Melbourne in the Queen's Birthday clash on Monday. The Pies are also hopeful Cox will be fit after missing five games, but they will be without Adams and Elliott until after the round 13 bye. Langdon will be out for some time yet but Appleby could be ready to resume in the VFL. Murphy's recovery has been slow and Kelly suffered a hamstring tendon injury in the VFL. Wells is hoping for a late-season return after suffering another long-term injury, but the campaign seems over for fellow veteran Dunn after a second anterior cruciate ligament rupture in nine months. - Ben Collins

I've been a bit thrown by the Beams news.

Need to try a positive spin;

I'm hoping Appleby is passed fit and plays VFL. I'm praying that Cox and Grundy are passed fit and play against the Dees. All three could play at some level this week. If not, all three will be playing directly after the bye.

Adams and Elliott will be fit in the week after the bye. Adams will come straight back into the AFL, Elliott may have to come back via VFL.

Tom Langdon is 4 weeks away. He could be back by our second game after the bye. I cant wait.

Will Kelly is a star of the future. He wont be playing AFL this year, but we'll look forward to seeing him in the VFL towards the end of the season. A big pre season could see him ready to jump in front of Reid in the pecking order.

Daniel Wells and Dayne Beams are 3 months away. 12 weeks. Both could be passed fit by the time we face Essendon in the final round. That's probably the best case scenario. If there is a bye between round 23 and the finals, then that'll buy them an extra week to make a case. But I have to admit that it is very important to make the VFL finals to give them every chance to play a game.

Nathan Murphy is listed as indefinite, but I feel like he's not that far off. He is not in our best 22 right now, but I'll look forward to seeing him in the VFL soon.

Lynden Dunn is the one guy we definitely wont be seeing this year. I'm hoping he can come back and perhaps accept a spot on the rookie list in 2020.

Losing Wells and Beams for 3 months sucks, but we're not in too bad of shape.

I’m now reading reports that Langdon could be going in for surgery and it’s season over.

If that's true then I doubt we can win the flag this year. Langdon is impossible to replace.

Matt Scharenberg says hello

Reported now Langdon will undergo knife knee hasn't responded to rest at all
Minimum recovery time is 12 weeks but with his knee history club won't rush him back
Would be season over
Scharenberg is more than a equal replacement in every aspect providing his knee/s stand up
Give him a few more weeks in the VFL and see where he's at

This report has come from Triple M.

https://www.triplem.com.au/story/tom-browne-says-tom-langdon-may-be-out-for-the-season-139823

Quote:
“Tom Langdon’s got a really tricky situation with his knee,” Browne said.

“If he needs surgery, when they determine that next week, which I think he probably will, that could be his season (over).”

Langdon played the first nine games of the season before injuring his knee in the Pies’ win over St Kilda.

The club has said they were resting the injury to see if he needed surgery and after a couple weeks it was said he'd be right to go in 5-6 weeks and would not be undergoing any surgery. We're now at a stage where he is listed as 4 weeks away.

And now this from Triple M. How accurate is this guys reporting?

Tom Browne was the guy declared Jack Riewoldts injury was worse than publicly declared. Riewoldt called him out and said he was making stuff up.
Riewoldt is currently a long time away from returning.

If Langdon misses the season, so be it. I rate him highly but our troubles are are around the middle and forward of centre right now. We have still managed to keep teams under 80 points without him but kicking anything above 80 points seems to be more problematic for us right now

Adams has had a setback at training today and will be unavailable until at least round 14.

No official news on Grundy or Langdon yet.
