I don't agree. I think there's still time for Oxley to take his rightful place as All-Australian wingman. Sidey is an impostor in that spot. The Ox is just the better player. Sidey lacks the skill and running ability to make it as a midfielder.

So, Sidey’s 10-vote game tonight netted him 31 disposals, taking his season tally to 709 disposals.

Just to reinforce how special he is in finals, despite his brilliant season that was only the second time this year that he’s had 20 kicks in a game. He is such a balanced, two-sided player and has so much skill that when others are being fumbly, falling over or tackled out of it, he just waltzes around like it’s a training drill.

Two moments, though, stood out for me last night. First, when he had the ball just forward of centre in the second quarter, surrounded by 6 GWS turkeys, none of whom could lay a glove on him. Secondly, when he beat Cameron in the contest in the middle of the park in the last quarter, following the kick in from the Mihocek behind.

In his post-game press conference, Buckley described him as “elite”. When a former player of Buckley’s standing says that, it ends the debate.

His last quarter is why I lost my voice. Just willed himself to get us over the line. We DONINATED the centre square in the final quarter. Never before have I seen such clean ruck work and midfield domination, using players off the back of the square to pump it inside 50 to Jordy and co.

The Giants made a huge blue by sending a boy on a mans job when they started Taranto to him. Should have taken the Giants all of 10 mins to swap wings with Whitfield and at least make Sidey keep an eye on Whitfield when they had the ball.

Sidebottom is a serious match winner. If the opposition don’t prioritise stopping him with a worthy tag, then they haven’t done their homework properly.
