An argument has erupted over Gillon McLachlans response to the scandal involving Dane Swan, with Collingwood great Tony Shaw leading the charge.
Shaw branded the AFL chief executives comments totally inappropriate and unwarranted.
Speaking on 3AW Mornings, McLachlan said Swan had clearly been wronged by whoever leaked the video.
However, he raised eyebrows with his next comment.
Just dont get yourself in that situation, McLachlan said.
I know thats challenging and people do what they do, but ultimately, thats all you can do.
Shaw couldnt believe what he heard.
Totally inappropriate and unwarranted from Gil, the premiership captain said.
This wasnt Swannys fault, at all.
He (McLachlan) should have supported him like he would have if you reserved the roles male and female.
Neil Mitchell also weighed into the debate.
What happened to Dane Swan was wrong and nobody male or female should have to put up with that type of intrusion but Im a little amused by some of his mates, could they be misogynist mates, who are being outraged on his behalf, the 3AW Mornings host said.
I didnt hear a lot of outrage when a young woman had her privacy brutalised by that Richmond player who photographed her topless and then circulated the photograph. |

| At a guess I would say 100,000 people have broken the law and good luck charging them all and getting it through the court system. I received the clip from approx 80 people I know. The first person that told me it was Swan was a Police Officer, before the news broke. The winner here is Swan's Tattooist, he has had a massive load of exposure as there isn't really any area for Swan to have any more ink done. Normally we have a female victim and now this has turned that on it's head. |
