What else he or she wanted to do of his or her adult
life ? All things was set in place to go off like a volcano print media but an unforseen spanner in the works has scuttled everything! Maybe we could talk on the phone sometime. Are you fair the board member who took the time to talk
to him or her intimated that this anachronistic clause was up
for discussion this year to facilitate its removal ? Ah. More than a million? What is your credit card number? Should it be until
after the AGM? |

Bad luck Vic, You were not the one mentioned in the conversation so there may be another nomination. Don’t worry people pluck rules from no where and they usually have been involved in clubs for 50 plus years. They are slowly dying off and you will get your chance again. |

Thanks for your kind words Culp.
Will be interesting to see if anyone does throw down the gauntlet and give it a shake.

I was going to say the same thing as Cam. Give it a go when you are eligalbe. At least then, people will know exactly what you stand for, and I reckon more people would be willing to vote for you. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. |

Cooldewd, no offence mate but if it was "something I'd wanted to do most of my adult life" as you stated, then surely you should have been a Social Club member before now?
One of the reasons I have a SC membership is so that I can vote and at least have some sort of input into the process of running the Club.

Good point - to be honest thought my time would come a little later.
As for next year, it would be unlikely as I would never run against one of the younger members of the board as that would be contradictory to my fundemental platform of "generational change". _________________ © The Dude ®

I thought that when Ed came on board an Constitutional Amendment addressed the issue of membership and Board appointees ... ie it was scrapped. Was a few drinks ago but that does ring a bell for at Camberwell Civic Center that night we were asked to vote for Board positions and there was an announcement to effect Constitutional Change once elected to allow the appointment of two Board members who had not previously been members. BTW no problem with that as it avoided any Rex Hunt type scenarios .... That could have just related to Board Appointees and I have not got a copy of the constitution to hand...
Anyways all the best CD !! You'll have my vote !! _________________ Let all your troubles be forgot for we are Collingwood. We'll fight it out until the end we're Collingwood. So help me Jock.

I knew it was you Vic and I am soooo disappointed that I for one won't be able to vote for you this year.
I agree with your statement/reason above and as Tess also stated, maybe in a few years time you will be ready with all guns blazing.
Good Luck |
