I liked this kid from the start, and I believe he's tracking ok for a 2nd year player. At worst he'll be a solid player for us.

If I had to critique him, I'd pick up on a point Dermott Brereton made in what I think was DeGoey's first game for us in a NAB cup match against Hawthorn in Tasmania. He was chasing a player who was cutting around on an arc, and got around JDG pretty easily. Dermott noted this, and thought Jordy's low-to-the ground agility was lacking. I saw the same thing.
1.5 yrs later, and as a mid, I still think he needs to work on this, as well as his explosiveness over 30m as he doesn't appear to have that extra gear.

In saying this, all these things are trainable, and it takes time for an AFL athlete to reach elite level. Let's see in a couple more years.

FWIW I reckon De Go Go will be an A grader and a gun.

When you look through that top 30 he's going okay.

Heeney is nearly a star already.

Petracca looks another who has potential.

There is a bloke at pick 24, Jack Steele, if he was playing for any one else other than the Giants you would be hearing a lot more about him. Their talent is truly frightening.

Some have said he is playing injured. He was smashing it in NAB cup and looked primed for a cracking season. HAs been OK- yet seems to have had a few flat patches -possibly fatigued.

I have been of the belief that in an ideal world JDG and Maynard would both have played more VFL- yet due to injuries- both have played more senior games.

Will be a Luke Ball type- in and under- touch as nails and never say die attitude- not overly skilled or overly quick- yet a good leader.

Just watch how he held dangerfield for majority of cats game- I reckon he is a bloke who needs a defensive role to challenge him- doesn't seem to be an offensive player for mine.

Reckon he'll be fine but it would be good if he could go back to the twos to work on his game.

just another player thats had to cut he's teeth on the big stage to early in his career. the disappointing thing i find atm from him is he has no individual stand out skills. surely he trains like he plays and the coaches can see that he needs to work on the basics. atm jdg needs to go back to vfl level and work out what he's strengths are and totally refine them.

Kid will be a gem. But I wish he would stop with the flashy boots & get some stops that stop him falling over all the time.

For arguments sake I will have a go.

All the bolded players.

Cockatoo, Duggan and Degoey about on par.

Wright and Lever would of been worthy picks.

Degoey is going to be a good player but he is looking more like a late 1st or early 2nd rounder then a top 5 pick that you would expect.

Think he lacks real weapons personally.

There's a bloke on BF called piebeast that was saying exactly that pre and immediately post draft.
Not a bust as such but clearly a burned pick as far as the treasured top 5 picks go.

He has shown more in two years than Ben Sinclair showed in two years, Sinkers is finally playing consistent football. More time for De Goey and a full list would make him work harder as well.

Way too premature to make statements as to whether he's a gun or a flop.

Yeah had a mixed night but never stops having a dip and we did not by a dud, his hand ball off to Blair for his second goal showed a heap of strength. In saying that he sometimes does overposses and should just kick more than dishing it off.
