The Giants don't have the salary cap to keep all those players. There'll be an exodus of talent once their glut of first round picks become free agents. As for the Pies, I was feeling like shit after Richmond beat us, so I looked at our list to see how many players we had that were 22 or under who I thought would make it as senior players and I counted 16. It made me feel a lot better and getting a win on the weekend topped it off.

Been saying it for a while. I Watch a lot of GWS live.
They have 10 top 10 draft picks not playing seniors.
Their seconds have been beating swans seconds for a while.
They are keeping the players they want to keep and are now attracting quality senior players from other teams.
They can afford to loose some very good players without impacting their development curve AND that will mean they get quality kids/picks in return so their depth will be prevalent for a long time to come.

they should be competitive for some time yet. with the stockpiling of top 10 and first round picks they will be to trade back into drafts if their anticipated future success affects their draft position.
we're going to get a good indication of where we are at when we play them in round 11. at some point we'll also probably need to beat them in a final to win a flag.

I can't help but still like the guy despite his antics at the end of 2013!
Best wishes to him this week in his 200th against the Bulldogs.

I think it's a great shame that premiership heroes like Heater and H celebrate their 200th games at other clubs.
I wish Heater great success - he was already my favourite player well before he gave me my single favourite Collingwood-supporting moment in the 2010 GF replay. Some players just get better and go harder when the stakes are highest. Heater did that for us.
I hope he has a big game this week, snags 5 goals running off half-back and is awarded best on ground.

Ha, yep another AFL assisted team to go on and win flags to get false support, just like the Bears, the swans, gees Gold Coast must be breaking their hearts! Makes you wonder what concessions are in their future!
Heath is right, have you watched them play lately? He's probably still smarting a bit from his departure too, and he's known for his laconic sense of humour.
Doubt there's a team that wouldn't swap a couple of bloody good players for Pendles, his footy smarts are of the stratosphere. The stuff that can't be taught.
Good luck to him, well done Heath, on the 200.
GWS will play finals this year.

Hardly any of the 2010 midfield left so hardly an issue.

My borther in law is a friend of K Sheedy and KS thinks they will be a great team very soon.
They remind me of the Brisbane team that played us at the last Vic park game in 1999. What a thrashing we got that day.

I have often thought that this GWS team reminds me of the Brions in 1999.

Yeah well, Shawry better make the most of it, cos Melbourne teams are gonna raid the GWS mob for some of their young talent, when contracts are up, make no mistake about that ! By the way, does any of his young mids buddies throw the ball in opponents faces in the goalsquare ??

Yes, we are a very young and exciting team, not much older than GWS id say, and your right, the Melb and clubs like port and crows, will raid them in a couple of seasons, thats a monty for sure.

And given the depth of 1st round talent they have available they'll cope pretty well with that, be well compensated for them in terms of further 1st round draft picks, and orchestrate a sustained period at the top of the ladder.
