Ostensibly because of facilities not conducive for spectators (or some such nonsense), but in reality, because they don't want opposition fans in their digs.
That being said, it won't stop the interested observer from looking in while standing on the footpath along Punt Road... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Debatable. 5 o'clock on a Thursday night? People would be either still at work or knocking off. Doubt they'd get many there as to crowd the footpath.
Maybe if we get enough people there, they'll open the gates...

SO I think the team will be:
Toovey Brown Williams
Langdon Frost Sinclair
Varcoe Swan Sidebottom
Fasolo Cloke Goldsack
Elliot White Gault
Foll: Grundy Pendelbury Greenwood
Inter: Adams Broomhead Blair Crisp Karnezis Kennedy
Crisp Kennedy Blair Karnezis gault all fighting for the last two spots for round 1 |
When the squad is trimmed to 24 I think the 3 to miss will come from PK, Broomy, Oxley and Ramsay. Thomas has been good in the preseason and finished 2014 well so is pretty well locked int round 1 for mine. Likewise Blair was amongst the best against the Blues and is an incumbent in the team so won't miss round 1. Kennedy I also see as pretty certain as has looked good in the pre season .
I originally thought of the 4 I mentioned Ox may get another go as he has stepped up a bit. After further thinking though I reckon PK, although he was poor against the Blues, might get another chance. Ramsay is still behind a few so misses and Broomy has struggled to get involved at all in the pre season games and has dropped down the order and I think is out of contention for round 1 |

PK had a poor game against the blues no doubt. But IMO he offers much more to the team than a kennedy or Thomas do. He is that skillful user of the ball that has a bit of goal sense about him.
But no doubt he is battling to keep his spot after the blues game. I prefer Kennedy to Thomas, mainly because Kennedy has been in the system alot less than Thomas has. I dont rate Thomas at all.
I wouldnt be upset if Kennedy replaces crisp in the team & I wouldnt be surprised of Thomas is there round 1 too. Its just that I dont agree with it & moving forward we wont improve with him in the team. Same as Williams. _________________ Collingwood a way of life! |

Blair had 40% disposal efficiency against Carlton and had 2 possessions in the second half.

He kicked two goals so everyone wet themselves. Doesn't matter that he was barely sighted for half a game... |

Like Varcoe was our best for the Hawks game.

While I tend to agree with both of you, 2 goals a game from a small forward would be great, wouldn't it? I guess the issue with Blair is, he's more likely to have similar stats the following week, sans goals. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Depends how the goals were kicked. We're they kicked against the flow of the game when goals were badly needed, or were they kicked early on from the good play of players further up the field? |

You have to look at game time - minutes played.
Most of these players are getting reduced minutes as part of their conditioning plan. It's what the coaches see from them while they are on the ground. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

Blair ranks above Jason Wild as a Collingwood Icon.
Would easily make the best 22 spuds of the century for
