Well done to him. Brings some of what we desperately lack. A selection that makes a lot of sense, and one I think could have been made earlier given the unbalanced side we've been putting on the park.

Congratulations. For those who watch VFL weekly, has he earned it? Just a question, needs to be asked. I wouldn't know.

He hasn't had the most inspiring season. Has absolutely squibbed it as a defender, constantly giving his opponent 15 to 20 metres of space. If he pulls that cr-p against Port, his man will have a day out. His rebound out of the back half has been of the short, chip chip chip kind. He is an inoffensive player, doesn't offer real attacking like say Sinclair does.

As a wingman, he has had some better games, but don't let his numbers fool you, he gets a lot of 1-2 gives. His unaccountability gets masked, because he plays as a freewheeler. And one who doesn't take the game on the way someone who has his particular gifts should.

Look, good luck to him tomorrow. But as a 25/26 year old, now in his 7th year in the AFL system, if he hasn't ironed out those weaknesses in his game by now at 2 previous clubs, then I doubt he will with us...

Gotta agree with MB here. I hope I'm wrong, but I think there might be a delist Tony Armstrong thread by the end of Sunday Confused

Congratulations to Tony Armstrong but I don't have any expectations that he'll do anything good today.

I really hope he can prove me wrong and play a blinder for the Pies. If what I saw in the pre-season is anything to go by, then I'll be staggered if he produces something special in the senior side during the Home and Away season.

He played well and added a much needed touch of class with his 100 % disposal efficiency.

Used brilliantly by Buckley. It's not a strategy that will work week in week out, but wasn't it good to see a rebounder consistently hitting targets.

Some interesting selection decisions coming up.

Not yet convinced Armstong has the defensive game to hold down a defensive position when there is a need to throw more players into the clearances.

Well done to the young man, an excellent first up performance. Used the ball very well and was not once exposed for his lack of strength.

Given that he is very slight he may not be a long term proposition, but at the moment his pace and good ball use are a welcome addition to the team. This is why the selection made sense, and on tonight's performance the only criticism I'd have is that it could have been made sooner.

100 percent use of the ball (apparently). How often can we say that about a Collingwood player. Well done Tony.
