Ball would make an excellent captain.

Pendlebury.

If Maxwell loses the player vote his career essentially will be over. He is not in the best 22 on ability.

Its not the most popular opinion, but I agree with you.

He is fringe 22 on ability but top 5 in character, only the inner sanctum of a football club will really know how much that is worth.

I think it's time for a change in captaincy, a new era to start under a new coach.

Maxwell is capable of playing some good footy worthy of being in the best 22 on ability alone but if that form were to waiver I'd hate to think he was getting a game purely because he is captain.

With the position he plays I think it's even more important that his form holds up as you don't want to be carrying to many defensive players in the side who lack foot skills and run when we could be better served with an extra creative option.

Ball has only been at the club since 2010 and is coming off a knee reconstruction.

For me Pendlebury is really the most obvious and perhaps only viable alternative to Maxwell for this season at least.

For me, personally, I like the way Luke Ball conducts himself. I thought the way he spoke after the 2010 GF was pure class and I also thought the way he didn't celebrate massively, but rather, consoled his mates at St Kilda was exceptional.

I like everything about Ball.

I can only go off what I see from Ball on TV and other media. I like what I see about Pendles too, but I think Ball has a bit more to offer.

Though, internally, it could be a complete different story.

We don't know.

Though I think it will be Pendles, I voted Ball.

Never been a big fan of how Pendles speaks in the media. It's not that he seems flippant or anything, he just doesn't seem to be a great communicator. Maybe it's just because he's a deer in the headlights when it comes to being on camera (ironic), I don't know. But a leader HAS to be an effective communicator.

Ball would make a great captain, but he's too old. It wouldn't make sense to give it to him now.

Voted for Ball too. Have to relinquish AFLPA role though. Bucks nominated Maxy to get his No 5 guensey though, so Maxy will be in for another year I would anticipate.

Pendles is at a great age to take over the reigns, if not Ball.

While I expect Maxy to keep his job, I actually reckon it's time for a change. Bucks needs to signal a new era has arrived at the club. Maxy would still be the general down back, but i've always thought you need your captain in the guts where he can impose himself on the game. Pendles is the obvious choice.

A year with his head over the ball will see Pendles probably take it, but if he can't develop that side of his game Bally may just surprise people. The good news is Pendles was showing more grunt in close before he hurt his knee last year, while Bally is already inspirational enough.

As much as I like Pendles, from afar I would pick Bally every time. Obviously only those in the know can make a serious assessment of these things and as David says age is against Bally (especially coming off a knee), but I have always felt the popular vote is given way too readily to Pendles. I think Pendles is obviously a gun player and disciplined athlete, but the credit he gets over Swanny as a player and over Bally as a leader is exaggerated in my view (which of course is a good sign for the club, so that's not a complaint!).

Pendles is the next skipper. Maxy may get the nod for another year, then it's Pendles. As for Bally, another good choice for skipper. It's out of Pendles or Bally, then it's daylight, cricket's chirping, white noise, then ...............................................................................?

Maxy has been a very good skipper, and if injury free, will have a very good year.

I'd like the next captain to be there for a while so I'll go with Pendles.
