Aish can play but he is coming into a poorly structured side, and a coach who has halted his development.

You can't tell me there is a benefit of going over to Perth when you are dropped and expecting to comeback the next week with no game and form.

Unlike you to find an opportunity to bag the coach.

yes, I'm sure the trip to perth, getting to spend time with the seniors and bond with teammates was such a terrible experience. having him stay behind would have been much better for his long term development.

Jez, you are right to question our gameplan. jury is out for me. but your obsession with tying everything to it shows pretty poor judgment in my opinion and undermines your message (which most are starting to tune out if my observations are correct)

sometimes less is more buddy.

mind you, you are not alone in being a relentlessly single minded poster who tries to tie every single thread to a single thing.

I agree. elite schoolboy player taking time to adjust to the extra physicality and body not yet mature. elite schoolboys tend to figure it out in time.

Look at McVeigh who took about 5 years to come good.

Not sure why we dropped him, seasons cooked anyway, may as well get as many games into him as possible, even more bizarre considering we're playing his old club.

In the long term dropping Faz and then moving him to the backline on his return might just have been the making of the man.

the decision as to whether to make a player earn his spot vs giving him valuable experience is a difficult one.

I generally believe that a player must earn the right to play in the side. Not sure Aish believes he belongs yet and it could do him more harm than good to play him.

I agree it would be nice to see how he goes over time.

Some posters seem to be judging him as if he was a first year player, saying he needs to adjust to the pace and physicality of AFL footy. Remember, Aish is already a 3rd yr player. I'm not saying he won't become a good player for us, and I certainly hope he does, but in all honesty, I haven't seen anything at all to give me any confidence that will eventuate. We should know by the end of this year if we made a boo boo giving up high draft picks for the lad.

That's fair Rude but I saw enough in his first year to make me believe he's got ability. His 2nd year was spent between injury and NEAFL and the coach and Matthews pressuring him about re signing with them.
I think he's found things difficult coming from a club where even the players struggle to attend training and games to the biggest club in the game and being under the microscope so harshly. So many posters where expecting him to turn up and win matches
The kid will be ok give him time and build his confidence and body
He may end up being a bust rude but I'm not ready to call it yet

I certainly don't mean to damn the kid. I hope he becomes a 10 yr player for us, but so far I'm not convinced he'll make it. I really hope I'm wrong.

You're kidding Dave.

Witts and Marsh were easily our best and there 3 or 4 other (mainly) VFL listed players who were next in line. Aish played a pretty good game, but let's not get carried away Dave.

Buckley was talking about how it's easy it is to underestimate the difficulty of going to a new club and making an impact. Went on to say that injuries had forced their hand and that they may have promoted him into the senior side earlier than they should have.

Seems like they think he needs time to settle in, not jut to the side, but also to the Club itself.

Can't beleive Nicks gives any credit to a Wilson article especially when Richmond are under pressure.

No way Bucks accepts a player he dosent want. In fact Aish has said Bucks was a factor in choosing the pies.

Just home from GWS game. Aish form and start reminds me a bit of Scully. Not upset if he follows his footsteps. Actually is turning into a good player.

Dave can you please change the thread title as it's clearly untrue and rather insulting to the lad.
