A raw but enthusiastic effort by the Cheer Squad at tonight's big Club function at Crown.

It might have been even better if we could have done our thing earlier in the night, rather than right at the end. I think it's fair to say we probably peaked a bit too early. Our rehearsals during the night were a lot better than our actual performance.

We came on stage about 11 o'clock, immediately after the player's auction and were introduced to the audience by Eddie McGuire before being joined on stage by the players. Then they played a video of famous Collingwood footage accompanied by the Gerry and the Pacemakers song, "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Then came the big moment we'd been rehearsing for the last 5 or 6 hours. We sang an almost tuneful rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" ... twice through, before launching into that grand old chant, "Everywhere we go ...", which is being revived this season. Generally it went pretty well, but I still think we were better in the rehearsals. I know I made the mistake of getting a bit carried away and trying to sing it a bit too high. As a result, the high notes were more shouted than sung, which was a pity.

At the end of "Everywhere we go" we launched into a "Collingwood ... (clap clap clap)" chant.

The night ended in rousing style when they played "Good Old Collingwood Forever" and we sang along with the players and the crowd ... and everyone went home feeling pleased with themselves.

It's important that we don't get too carried away with tonight's effort. WE STILL NEED TO IMPROVE if we want to be a great cheer squad. And we need to improve a lot.

But I was happy with the work we did on "Everywhere We Go" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" during the evening. I believe it will pay dividends next Saturday when we rock the Ponsford.

AND WE WILL ROCK THE PONSFORD ON SATURDAY ...

Be warned.

Win, lose or draw ... the Collingwood Cheer Squad has arrived. The core group who did the Crown gig tonight now have to show the rest of the Cheer Squad how do to do it on match day.

And really ... singing to a room full of suits at Crown Casino is all very nice.
But the real gig is on Saturday ... in the Ponsford. Don't miss it.

Go Pies!!!!!

It doesn't get much better,to be given the honour to stand before our great club and sing to them 'you'll never walk alone'
I just feel so much pride to be involved with the collingwood football club and to have the players amongst us on stage while performing 'you'll never walk alone' and Good old collingwood for ever is something i will never forget. For those of us lucky to be there last night it's easy to see why this club his held so dearly by so many.
It simply is the greatest football club in the world!!and how good was it for 'bucks' and the other players to go around and shake our hands afterwards. And the video that was played before we sang was the most moving piece of film on collingwood you would ever wish to see.
In closing a special heartwarming thanks to the collingwood football club for making this night a night we wont forget for a very long time.

There is nothing in life greater, than to be a supporter of our beloved collingwood football club,we must remain united,we must stand tall,we must be prepared to fight for our glorious black and white for we are the ENVY OF ALL NATIONS.'YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE'

Now who's the insomniac? 4.21 ... !!!!!

Did it really take that long to get back to Cranny?

Of couse, we could always have a bit of a grizzle about having to wait around until 11 o'clock to do our thing, but we won't do that, will we? They placated us with plenty of beer, but I'm a non-drinker, so that's about as useful to me as a glass door on a shit-house.

What the heck. It was worth it in the end, just being up there for our moment of glory.
