Nick Maxwell
Guernsey Number: 27
Height 190 cm
Weight: 88 kg
Recruited From: St Josephs (VCFL)/Geelong U18/North Ballarat
Debut: 2004
Date of Birth: 3 June 1983
Draft history:
2004 rookie elevation (Collingwood)
The reliable defender enjoyed an excellent start to 2006 after establishing himself in the side in 2005 and was developing into one of the leaders of the backline. However, a broken leg suffered against the Brisbane Lions in round ten derailed his campaign. Returned courageously in round 17 and finished off the season strongly. Has proved one of the success stories of the club having been plucked off the rookie list in 2004, and with another pre-season of conditioning under his belt, should continue to perform a role in defence each week for the coach.

Was playing great this year in the first 10 games of the season, then had broken his leg in Round 10 against the Brisbane Lions and was out for 6 weeks.
I love the way he plays and also i hope he is the Leadership group in the next 2 to 3 years at least.
Also he is nice friendly person to talk to at a training session. _________________ 2016 Player Sponsor for Travis Varcoe

Interesting start to the season for young Nick as he has now moved into the leadership group and also the AFLPA executive after the retirement on Bucks his on field looks set to fire this year after an injury interrupted 2006
He is one who seems to bring about alot of differing opinion amongst fans with some unable to see his faults and always praising him, others that can never say a good word about him, then there are probably the realists, acknowledge the good games, bag him for the shit ones.
This past week he started up forward before moving to his traditional backmans role. It was seen as a solid game by Nick in a game where about 17 other Pies failed to do much to write home about either whilst some people however found his game to be shocking and put him in our worst. I thought it was a serviceable game along with alot of others in one of our worst performances in a while yet still stole the 4 points
Nicks looks like he may be used more forward and possibly even a bit in the middle if training is any indication at some stages as well as down back. He is seen as a future leader and 200+ gamer for the Mighty Pies but might want to hold back on those tantrums

Thought he did a very good job on Hunter last Saturday. Kept him to a minimum impact so I would say job well done!! _________________ - Thanks for the memories Licca - I'm gonna miss you!!! - Bring on 2008 - Nick Maxwell has my vote for Captain - |

I was just reveiwing the Gavin Brown Medal votes after watching a replay of the Carlton game. I didn't cast a vote for him, and nor did anyone else but with a second look, gee I thought that Nick has a terrific game down back for us.

not at all dalyc, May as well nickname him BP as Nick is the Quiet Achiever of our side and becoming a very versatile player for us....He is a top person off field as well, his display after the pre-season game up in QLD with the fans was all class...future captain or media role for this fine young man!

I dont see him as a forward, i see him as a defender. But his versatility is handy. He is quickly becoming a leader of the club _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |

Definitely not alone, he was outstanding in the second half. Marked or spoiled everything that came his way, set up some damaging forward movements and most of all, was as brave as they come. Didn't get my votes either, but he was in the best half-dozen. _________________ "The greatest thing that could happen to the nation is when we get rid of all the media. He was especially good in the last quarter. Now that he's bulked up a little, it's clear he sees himself as a bit of an enforcer in the side, which is great to see. |
