Word doing the rounds is that VFA-VFL legend Phil Cleary has been dumped from the commentating team.
No news on his replacement as yet, but it is a disgrace what ABC-TV have done. Phil is an icon to the game, and his knowledge will be sorely missed.

how can you watch the VFL on abc without him ? lol It just won't be the same, I hope it isnt true.

That's sad news. I will miss Phil's gravel rash tones. He called footy how its supposed to be called like a bloke who's knocked down a couple in the outer.

The latest is that although he's been dumped from the commentary team, but he will be retained on the ABC-TV Football payroll.
A new position will/has been created especially for him. His new role will include hosting a special feature segment (interviews / VFA history, etc,) to be shown during the half time break, and he will have a role of some sort during the finals.
