It's gotta be Daics in the drawn QF in '90. The only goal I've ever seen that I truly cannot work out how it actually went through! I was sitting right behind the flight of that goal, I spent the whole game complaining about the bad seats but I ended up with the best view of that kick, and I still can't believe it! Daics kicked a banana kick that should have swung away from the goals from the toughest possible angle. That kick nearly defies the laws of physics.

You kids be cool

1. Daicos v Brisbane. Gastev pushing him over the boundry gets a shot off... Goal! He kicked 13 that day.
2. Daicos v West Coast. Boundry line... everyone know the score.
3. Daicos v ? . On the boundry line about 40 out, in front of the members stand, Vic Park. Leaves opposition player for dead slots it from the boundry now about 30 out.

Honorable mention. Ron McKeown v Fitzroy, Princess Park 1990.
Runs out of the half back line has a bounce and has a ping from about 55... Goal!

There are others like McGuane, Manassa etc. But these were the ones that appealed to me. Most were in 1990... funny about that.

Brown26 thanks for that! You've made my morning at work.
That goal was forgotten I guess bcos of Leon's goal against Footscray in the 2nd round and the fact the Swans won.

Daicos was fantastic wasn't he.
I remember listening to that idiot Rex Hunt comentating on a
Daicos goal once it went something like this -

And the Macedonian Marvel scoops up the pill, runs to the
boundary, slips over - twice - has a few bounces, waits for
the player to effect a tackle, twists out of reach, makes
sure his back is to the goals and the angle is impossible -
then casually slots it through for a goal.

A bit of exagerated sarcasm but probably not far wrong.

I saw Adkins' goal. Wasn't that his first game too?
Such confidence for a youngster.

just remembered a goal darren millane kicked against richmond at vic park in 1990, where he dummied and weaved through about a zillion richmond players and against a howling wind kicked the goal from 45 out.

Sounds like "Where's Kent Butcher" was taping the games week by week-although I'm sure you wouldn't do it really, coz it's illeagal. I didn't do it either, and I don't still get them out for a squiz on a weeknight in the offseason.

Great quotes-1990 2SF vs Essendon P McKenna:
"They wouldn't want to let Daicos get this...they do! (snap from 45 of throw in)

Vs Melbourne early 90's Bruce Mac
"A little bit of magic he weaves, and then sets sail" (one hander on 55 10 metres in from the boundary then torps it straight through)
And again
"Obst does well (no he doesn't Bruce)...still Obst (nup, sorry)...now Daicos gets it the pocket, puts it across his body ...and kicks IT!("special" voice at the end)"

i reckon some of sav's long goals were brilliant. you just knew he was going to kick them.

I would have to say it would be out of about 4!

1. Micks run against the WORKING VISA COWTOWN BLUES.

2. Manaasas run against North mabe in '77 I think, I'm not that old!.

3. Daicos's inside out banana kick against the Weagles in '90.

4. There was a goal kicked by Brad Rowe at Waverley in '93 when he was on the run and kicked a checkside from about 45 and on a 45 degree angle! It was 23 1993, the last year of 24 rounds, I missed to due to an ear infection! PISSED OFF I WAS!
anyone remember?

Go Pies!

ahhhh... the multitude of goals kicked by the maggies in warm up during the anzac day clash a few years back (whenever it was - thanks magpie-greg).

the brass band decided to march behind the goals as the maggies were about to commence there warm up and consequently copped a football pelting from the Collingwood goals... ahhh brilliant stuff!

Paul William's first goal round 1 1991 vs Footscray at Waverly (I was working so I saw it on the ta...the replay I mean).

Half blind Jamie "Apples" Turner intercepts a doggie handball, runs it down the flank and loops a St Vincents-Mercy-Royal Women's Hospital handball over the defender's (Foster?) head at the feet of first gamer Willo, who turns, bends, collects the ball and snaps in one muscular action from 45 out. McKenna and Quinlan are squabbling in the commentary box but they both praise the young tyro's brilliant play.

PS What does "tyro" mean?

I don't know about best, as there are so many, but most important.....Daicos 1990 GF.
We had a slow start and it looked like "here we go again". Salmon was killing us and had kicked most of Essenscums score.
When Daics kicked that first pearler from the boundary you could see the Pies lift. For the first time they BELIEVED!

Most important goal in 32 years , and not a bad one for the highlight reel either.
