Not talking New Zealanders. Talking NZ cricketers.

In the ODI WC, the NZ commentators, former NZ cricketers, happily talked about "kiwi" cricketers. The former captain referred to the current "kiwi captain".

After the previous iteration of this discussion on this forum, my Nick's posting policy has been simply to use "NZ".

Confused Are NZ cricketers not from New Zealand? Making them, you know, New Zealanders - ergo Kiwis?

Donny is just being Donny again! He had a dig at me I think it was last year when I mentioned Kiwis.

I haven't seen him have a go at anyone who says Aussies? Surely Aussies and Kiwis are both the same.

Disrespectful it is definitely not!

I'd better let the Kiwi I work with know to stop calling his cricket team "the Kiwis" Wink

Incorrect. Aussies is just a short form of 'Australians', Ken. Smile

We are not called Kangaroos.

Time running out for Trent Boult...

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/28258595/running-trent-boult-new-zealand-face-australian-challenge

"... That leaves Boult with two days to prove he can withstand the workload of a Test which is set to be played in temperatures topping 40 degrees.
...

New Zealand will be desperate for him to line-up at Perth Stadium as he has enjoyed considerable success with the pink ball in the two day-night Tests he has played - taking 16 wickets [at] 12.50 with two five-wicket hauls ..."

[Smith would definitely be happy if Boult misses.]

Smith won't care - as long as someone bowls, he's due for a few centuries.

You mean he's due for some ultraflat tracks... Oh, wait... Adelaide was ultraflat. Never mind. No doubt the MCG will outdo it in flatness.

No, I mean he has a Test average of 67.87 against New Zealand, so he's due. Also, he'll be cranky because he's gone two Tests in a row without making a hundred.

Heat wave in Perth.

At least the next 3 days of 40+ temps.

Win the toss, TP. Smile

Michael Vaughan: "I think this bouncing ball here will really test them. BJ Watling, you can probably argue is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in Test cricket now, but against this trio of Australian quicks, I don't care who you are, if those three are right, they are going to make it very difficult for you and they test your courage, your technique, your mindset."

(Is he in town to do commentary? I hope not. He's obnoxious. One of the good things about watching Sky is that it does not have Vaughan, who is on competing UK media.)

M. Knox:

"What the Trans-Tasman Test matches really need, after this, is pitches that enhance the contest between bat and ball. There is a sense, in Brisbane and Adelaide, that our surfaces are too good. ... Pink-ball Test matches were meant to be a wildcard, the evenings supposedly evening up the balance, but here it turned the rest of the game into a kind of interminable waiting."
