AFL clubs are not for profit organisations, unlike companies you can buy shares in. Any profit has to spent or banked, it doesn't go to shareholders so the only reason to make a profit is so we can spend more on stuff. It's far better than a loss but really comparing the profit from income against companies with shareholders is comparing apples and coconuts

I would expect Collingwood to reinvest any surplus money back into the club.

Profit won't steer us towards premiership glory like equipment and other resources will.

2015 +0.8m
2016 -2.6m
2017 -2.7m
2018 +0.1m
2019 +3.8m

Given that we just got out of pokies - and I assume booked a large payment for that, as well as still having some pokie revenue in FY2019 - it would be wise to retain at least some cash until we see what impact that has
