Man. City really have problems with Tottenham, don't they?

This has now gone on long enough to say that confidently.

"Liverpool have maintained the English Premier League's only perfect start while adding a new chapter to the club's record book.

The Reds made it four wins from four by beating Burnley 3-0 on Saturday for their 13th straight win, eclipsing the club mark set between April and October 1990."

Ahem... James Hird. Shocked

'... he now works as a broker for the sale of big European soccer clubs...

... acting as a consultant for consortiums looking to buy clubs in Spain, England and Italy.

"One group worked with Suning, a Chinese company and they bought Inter Milan," Hird said. "That was a very small piece of work around that, there were some bigger pieces of work with some English clubs - some of them didn't go through, one of them did go through.

"It's interesting when you get approached to do something like that. It's very much, you get wowed by the name of the club. But when you look at the economics, they're in dire straits. These clubs are on the edge, there's millions and millions of debt, and someone's going to take that debt out.

"Newcastle, there's always speculation [owner Mike Ashley] is trying to sell, but he wants a price. The lady who was trying to buy it won't [meet it]. He won't even sit down with her in a meeting – it's like watching Neighbours, it's an absolute soap opera in front of your eyes."'

It's early days, but already Man U., Tottenham & Chelsea have mediocre 1-2-1 records.

Meanwhile, The Sun claims that "Paul Pogba stayed at Manchester United after ‘Adidas intervened and vetoed Real Madrid transfer’ ". (They report that Adidas have a decade-long £31m endorsement deal with him.)

"Manchester City slumped to a first defeat in 19 English Premier League games as injury-hit Norwich deservedly beat them 3-2 on Saturday.

The champions had last lost in the league in January – a 2-1 reversal at Newcastle – but the Canaries were in inspired form at their Carrow Road home...

Earlier, title rivals Liverpool rebounded from an early setback to beat Newcastle United 3-1 and maintain their perfect league start."

Man. City 8-0 Watford

BBC:

"Five goals in the first 18 minutes set Manchester City on their way as they ripped apart a woeful Watford team...

Bernardo Silva scored a hat-trick as Pep Guardiola's side ran riot to clinch their biggest league win since he took charge in 2016. They also hit the woodwork twice and continued to chase further goals until the end, but a record victory eluded them.

Manchester United's 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995 remains the biggest victory in the Premier League era but City become only the seventh team to win a top-flight game by an eight-goal margin in the modern era."

FiveThirtyEight now predicts Man. City 60%, but it's mid-round and they have played a game more than Liverpool.
