When things don't work the way they should.

Bought a new block out roller blind for the lounge room up in Toc. 2700 long. The window is north facing and both the blind and the architrave on the inside of the window were trashed from years of sun.

Pulled the old blind and brackets down (new one had different brackets), quick sand and paint, then put new blind up.

FMD they make cheap shit screws these days, drilled holes first and still managed to twist the heads off 2 screws, using a manual screwdriver. By hand. Evil or Very Mad

Got the brackets up then of course the blind didn't fit. Rolling Eyes Confused Mad

couple of smokes and some think music (way too early for a beer), I modified the brackets and got it installed, all before breakfast.

What should've been a 15 minute job with a rest period while the paint dried took 90 minutes.

I think I'm getting a head cold. Mad Sad

I've dodged a bullet so far, for several weeks I've been surrounded by people getting sick and I've been fine apart from slight symptoms, cough and runny nose sometimes.

Today out of the blue the nose was really working. Sneezing, went through half a box of tissues and gradually feeling stuffy in the head. Came home a bit early from work, vicks on chest and rugged up like a Sherpa. I'f no improvement tomorrow I'll work from home so I don't infest anyone.

Gotta shake this off before Friday when I fly to Darwin.

Cheers Morrigu,

I've conceded and taken today and tomorrow as sick leave. I'll probably still do a few emails and possibly conference calls but that doesn't fuss me. In a way I'm glad it hit me now so I have a chance to shake it off before heading north rather than hitting me there.

Hope your mum comes good and you get to see the whales and some warmth soon.

^ good plan!

Have a great break - I love Darwin it's an " interesting" place Very Happy

I worked up there many years ago and did a long stint of remote nursing. The Alice was even more " interesting" - it was in the days when they gave premeds and the black fellas not being used to our meds would often get spooked and take off. I was young and fit then so it was my job to chase them through the mall their hospital gowns flapping in the breeze and bring them back - I think that would be a non-nursing duty these days Laughing Laughing

Thanks for your thoughts Stui - no whales for us this year but on the upside I've been to PAC at Repat and anaesthetic clinic at Austin and a few diagnostic joints Wink Razz

I'm just picturing some poor blackfella, hospital gown flapping, being chased down the Mall by a young fit you.

I'm surviving the cold change having just got back from Darwin better than I expected.

I think the sun burn is helping keep me warm.

The sun burn must be fading quick. This is fkn ridiculous, 11c at midday with an insipid sun shining like a flat torch.

I need to re-evaluate my retirement plan, or win Tatts.
