I think so too. We have to omit someone though. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

OF course. Otherwise it's like keeping frozen food clogging up the freezer for a year, then throwing it out right when you run out of food. |

Selection is going to be very interesting. I'd say, with a fair amount of certainty that De Goey, Sidey and Stevo are in. That's 3 definite changes then you'd have to consider Wells, Aish, Daicos and possibly Goldy. Assuming no one misses from injury, I doubt we'll drop any more than 3 from a winning team _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Moore cleared of new hamstring injury
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/moore-cleared-of-new-hamstring-injury-20190826-p52kvw.html
' "He has not re-injured it," Collingwood football manager Geoff Walsh said.
"He did report tightness and awareness but all the subsequent investigations are that he has not re-injured it, which is good news on one level."
...
Collingwood will welcome back three star players in Steele Sidebottom, who missed last week due to surgery to repair a ruptured testicle, Jordan De Goey, who has recovered from a hamstring strain, and Jaidyn Stephenson...' |

Absolutely not. We'll be bringing in 3 players and dropping 3 good players as it is, without contemplating disrupting the side completely by making another unnecessary change.
Better to keep him training and fit, in readiness for a call up, should one of our elite mids/forwards get injured during our finals campaign. If one of Varcoe, Elliott, Stephenson, Pendles, Sidey or de Goey went down with an injury, then Wells would get the call up. |

Wells won’t be playing and neither he should.
He’s only played half a VFL game in over two months.
That’s not rolling the dice, that’s football suicide.
Time to move on. |

A Ben Reid return is imminent, says Tyson Goldsack #GameDay |
This is interesting one. First instinct is to say hell no. But I think we are one tall down on the right balance. Then you have the Moore issue and if he misses, we would be more exposed against the likes of Rich, Geelong & WCE _________________ Buzz

Yep, that's right. There would have to be more injury carnage for him to be selected. Its a shame, because his skills & creativity in the midfield/forward half would have been a real positive.
Unfortunately, it's another FA pick that we haven't gotten right. _________________ Buzz

The only way Wells would play is if we were absolutely desperate and we aren't. We'd have to omit one of Varcoe, Thomas or Brown at least and I just don't think the potential upside (unlikely potential given his lack of footy) is enough to take that risk. _________________ Well done boys! |

With a bye week coming up:
COLLINGWOOD
Darcy Moore - Hamstring (TEST)
Matt Scharenberg - Concussion (TEST)
Steele Sidebottom - Ruptured Testicle (TEST)
Brayden Sier - Concussion (TEST)
James Aish - Shoulder (TEST)
Jordan De Goey - Hamstring (TEST)
Josh Thomas - Knee (TBC) Should say test
Isaac Quaynor - Foot (TBC) Should say season
Ben Reid - Calf and Hamstring (TBC) Should say test
Will Kelly - Hamstring (Season)
Mason Cox - Eye (Season)
Dayne Beams - Hip/Shoulder (Season)
Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)
Tom Langdon - Knee (Season)
https://www.afl.com.au/news/injury-list
Quote: | Moore has escaped further hamstring damage and the club says he remains in the frame for the qualifying final against Geelong, while Thomas and Scharenberg appear more likely starters after suffering mishaps in the final round win over Essendon. Jaidyn Stephenson will return after serving his 10-game suspension and Sidebottom, De Goey and Aish also hope to be available. Sier copped a knock in the Pies' final VFL game for the season while the unlucky Murphy sustained another injury – nerve damage to his neck. It's also unlikely we'll see Quaynor again this season, while Reid also faces an uphill battle. The campaign is already over for Cox, Langdon, Beams and Dunn. - Ben Collins |
Kelly moves from TBC to season. IQ probably the same.
Six tests that should all be available for selection for week one of the finals.
JT is a bit of a worry. Listed as TBC when it should say test. There's been nothing in the media about this, so we'll see if it's anything.
Would love to be playing in the VFL this weekend. But we're not. So we'll go into the Qualifying Final with up to 8 of those guys available and off the list.
And could have only 6 unavailable, with only Langdon, Beams and Cox missing from our best 22. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Wayne Carey:
Playing hurt in AFL finals is a matter of trust
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/playing-hurt-in-afl-finals-is-a-matter-of-trust-20190829-p52lzh.html
"The depth you have is a big part of the decision-making process when weighing up who plays, and when, in finals. That brings us to Darcy Moore.
There's no doubt Collingwood are a better team with him there. If he'd been fit and firing this time last year, who knows, the Pies might have won the premiership. But in the past week we've again seen he's got some mental demons with his hamstring. While he came off halfway through the Magpies' win over the Bombers, scans have since showed there was no new damage.
Can he be trusted to get through a high-intensity final? Because of his history he's understandably been a little over-cautious. From what I'm told he's trained strongly this week. He needs to continue to push himself in the lead-up to that clash with the Cats.
If Moore can look Nathan Buckley in the eye and tell him he's right to play, then his name goes on the team-sheet, and Buckley certainly expects him to play.
While I still have reservations about Moore's durability, the fact the Magpies are playing a qualifying final gives them the perfect chance to put him to the test. If he suffers another setback, the decision moving forward is made for them. If he's gets through unscathed it's an incredible confidence-booster for him, potentially ahead of a week off.
With a double chance, it's a risk I'd be willing to take. If Moore isn't selected for week one of the finals, he might as well be put on ice for the remainder of September." |
