I've noticed the umps doing this for us the last few weeks, most often just as we kick the ball. Are they psychic? How the hell can they call that as soon as the ball hits the boot... and from all the cases I've seen, the ball HAS traveled at least 15m. Why? |

Saw that article on HS website about Collingwood being the team that gets most free kicks etc out of all clubs.... Maybe because we don't cheat like all the others??
Everyone don't seem to understand this part of free kick stats lol |

I'll be watching each quarter once they go on-line, and closely inspecting each and every HTB/DTB decision, each way, and reporting back here... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

I seriously think two rules should be introduced re kicking:
1. No kicking backwards (if you have to go backwards to get out of trouble handball). This rule will force teams to be more aggressive in going forwards.
2. All kicks need to travel 30 metres before a mark. This rule will help speed up play and stop this ridiculous chip chip chipping style of play. |

Seriously, we've barely kicked the ball and the ump yells "PLAY ON NOT 15!!" and it puts the player off who's marking the ball 15-17 metres away. I'm not seeing this for other clubs, just us. I wear glasses, and the kicks definitely look the minimum 15m to me. But calling it the second the ball hits the boot? Bloody ridiculous. |

this was spoken about during the telecast. They suggested that the umpires were reminded that BOTH Adelaide and COllingwood play a chippy style of play.
The problem with putting something in the umpires mind is that it causes them to, well ..... lose their mind.
Umpires do best when they have no pre conceived notions of what to do. they just watch the game and call it like you see it. Whenever the AFL focuses on a particular rule, it gets over officiated in that specific matter and looks really bad. Its not really the umpires fault. Its human nature.
Its why itsa a really good idea to keep yapping to umpires all the time (and let's face it, that was Luke Hodge's greatest skill as a player - his ability to influence umpires by constantly putting ideas in their head..... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |
