VERY heavily linked to the Cats for 2021.
You might have to ask them.

We need to get him!

PADDY RYDER (PORT ADELAIDE)

Draft picks: Late second-round/early third-round pick
Value on open market: $400,000-500,000 per season

Seeking a two-year deal and currently exploring the market. Starts next year as a 32-year-old so his trade value isn't through the roof, but could command a handsome wage, especially if there's more than one bidder.

Need a back up ruck. But not on that wage. Not at that age.

Ryder to Essendon. Shocked Shocked Shocked

I dont know if Ryder will help Essendon now.

I guess he can fill the need while Drapers knee recovers

Fight for Coniglio: Giants don't need to match front-loading

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/fight-for-coniglio-giants-don-t-need-to-match-front-loading-20190821-p52jhv.html

"GWS believes Coniglio would be worth two first-round draft picks if he was traded.

No free-agent contract offer has yet been matched, although Adelaide indicated they would match the six-year offer to Patrick Dangerfield and thus forced Geelong to trade for the champion back in 2015.

GWS, meanwhile, have met Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs, in an indication that Jacobs is strongly interested in a move to the Giants.

While the deal is not done, GWS are keen for an experienced ruckman and have identified Jacobs as fitting the bill better than a number of other alternatives, including Port Adelaide’s out-of-contract ruckman Paddy Ryder, who is on the radar of his old team Essendon and St Kilda."

So the media believe we have a list so overflowing in talent in comparison to the likes of West Coast, Richmond, Geelong and Hawthorn that we and only we can't afford to keep 3 of our most talented?

Now there might be some element of truth to this story but it almost feels like they are fueling the hysteria while you sense the worst of the Collingwood hating media are reveling in it.

Why so much concentration on us?

Now I know Hawthorn have lost some big names in recent seasons but still they've added O'Meara, Mitchell, Wingard, Scully etc and are making a big play for Coniglio. They still have multiple premiership players like Gunston, Burgoyne, Breust, Smith, Stratton and McEvoy on their books.

They can afford all that but we have a problem?

West Coast the reigning Premier have a star studded lineup including among others the likes of Kennedy, Darling, McGovern, Hurn, Barass, Naitanui, Gaff, Shuey and Yeo. They are set to make a play for Kelly.

They can afford all that but we have a problem?

Geelong like Hawthorn still have premiership players running around in the calibre of Ablett, Selwood, Hawkins, Taylor and Duncan. In recent seasons they added a high priced recruit in Dangerfield and other handy types in Tuohy, Dahlhaus, Rohan and Henderson. They are set to add Stevens by all reports.

They can afford all that but we have a problem?

Richmond won the flag in 2017 and have since recruited Lynch. They already had Rance, Martin, Riewoldt and Cotchin on big money I'm sure.

They can afford all that but we have a problem?

While I believe we under performed in comparison to our list in the years 2014-2017 it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense that a side who last won the premiership in 2010 and one who had missed finals for 4 consecutive seasons until last year has a major salary cap issue in comparison to the teams above.

We pay all our players too much, except the new draftees and rookies.

A savy club may not of played Moore for the rest of the season (hindsight) and traded him off at seasons end for maximum currency. Right now you got to think he's a Merc repaired by a master technician that can't workout the knock.
