Forget that thought. The Dogs are 5 goals up at 3/4 timie, and won't lose.

They also won't lose against the Crows next week, meaning in all likelihood we'll be playing an Elimination Final against a red hot Dogs on the G.

If we beat Essendon and the dogs do as you say then we'll play Essendon again (assuming Richmond and West Coast win) in the Elimination final.

Strangely enough the Dogs will play GWS again also.

I'm thinking this will be the final eight.

Geelong
Brisbane
West Coast
Richmond
Collingwood
GWS
Western Bulldogs
Essendon.

Beat Essendon then my ideal road to the grand final would then work out as such....

Semi-final win against Geelong.

Preliminary final win against *Brisbane.

*Not convinced Brisbane can beat West Coast even at the Gabba. Next to no chance away should they slip to 3rd on percentage.

Is there any chance Brisbane can beat the Tigers? I just can't see it happening at the MCG.
We can hope.

Hawks will still be alive Sat night as Crows v Bulldogs don’t play until Sunday, so maybe they can do the unthinkable.

If we lose we will be playing either Dogs, Crows (if they win by more than 4 goals) or Hawks.

A win and then it brings top 4 into play (Brisbane or Geelong), but also Essendon, Dogs or Crows if Richmond and WCE win.

Port comes into play as a potential opponent if we don’t get top 4 and Hawks, Dogs lose and Port win by more than 5 goals but also more than the Crows do.

I don’t believe there is any chance of a Perth trip.

Best outcome for us is:
- Cats beat Carlton
- Hawks beat Eagles
- Tigers beat Lions

1. Cats
2. Lions
3. Tigers
4. Pies

^ Agreed! That would be a great outcome (though the prospect of playing West Coast at the MCG in the semi if we lose in week 1 does fill me with some dread).

Whatever happens, I don’t want to be done after week one of the finals. Wouldn’t be fair getting knocked out by Ess, WB, Port, Adel or even Haw after being a legitimate Top 4 team for the bulk of the season. We deserve to see what our strongest team can do (not being underdone, which it will be week one) from week 2 onwards. Would be the biggest waste of everyone’s year (players and supporters alike) if we were to be bounced week one with our strongest team for 3 months finally being put on the park.
