Pies claim last minute victory over Tigers

"Collingwood has recorded a four-point victory over Richmond at the Swinburne Centre on Sunday.

The Tigers looked strong for most of the match as the Pies struggled to stand up to the opposition’s pressure and urgency.

But it all came down to the final minute of the game.

Magpie forward, Sophie Alexander took a high mark just before the siren and followed through booting the match-winning goal. The Pies were able to walk away victorious, 3.8 (26) to 3.4 (22)."

Round 16 vs Hawks

After a disappointing loss to the Bomber last week the girls play the Hawks at Box Hill City oval today.

Top spot and minor premiership still up for grabs so plenty of incentive for a win today but it will be a tough ask against the Hawks who are looking to secure a place in the top 4.

Jaimee Lambert is back in the team. Pies missed her run and goal scoring ability last week as they looked very slow against the quicker Bombers.

Pies currently up against the Southern Saints at Vic Park.

Very low scoring - Pies lead 15-6, 6 minutes gone in the final qtr.

Expected it to be a close game but not this low scoring. However based o games I have watched this year, if a team cannot get clear space or out of the defensive 50 then the ball just rebounds back in.

Plus the umpires tend to call play on all the time until the ball is locked in a pack. Doesn't make for a free flowing game.

Jaimee Lambert goal with 2 minutes to go, sealed the win for the Pies.

Final score Pies 3.3.21 to Saints 1.0.6.

Just managed to see the final couple of minutes online and listening to commentators after game, Pies A graders - Molloy and Lambert - at each of the ground made the difference. Defence led by Stacey Livingstone held up under Saints pressure but Saints did not make the most of their time in possession. Pies talls of Hynes & Layton also did well.
