According to that table, 47,400 Indigenous people are on the disability pension, which is only 10.2% of the eligible (i.e. 16 to 64-year-old) Indigenous population. I’m not sure how that compares to the broader population – it might be a bit lower than that, but I think the proportion of Australians on the disability support pension is at least 5%. |
I think it's more likely she screwed up the statement.
With a bit of searching, it's easily found that over 50% of aboriginals receive a government pension or allowance that is their main source of income.
I think I've mentioned the time I was working at Yulga Jinna community, when John McGuire, the aboriginals liaison officer approached a group of young community members, busily playing on their phones, and offered them employment at the nearby mine. A simple yes and each one of them would have been on an $80k+ traineeship quicker than you could say 'cold beer'.
They all looked up and walked away.
All 3 of my nephews are employed, even though they were gimmie jobs, due to their grandfathers position, at least they work.
Funny thing is, Jordan has exactly the same qualifications as Jessica (my youngest), yet he gets paid substantially more than her for being employed in an identical role.... and it's not because he's Male and she's female.
When I worked at the Argyle diamond mine, each time one of my apprentices became a tradesman, their starting salary, was $20k more than mine. Strange hey. |

Thanks for that, I understand the lure of the climb but standing in a queue at 8km up waiting to maybe summit or succumb to exposure and altitude sickness isn't quite as romantic as it all was in the 90s. Just another thing that millennials have ruined _________________ It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

i prefer not to think of us as the arsehole, but as the rose between 2 thorns.
We got the best of this world, it'll be up to Gen Z to right the ship as the millennials are useless. _________________ Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pigeon. Not a good example of Islam being a problem there, those who do convert have a far lower rate of going back inside, In isolation, you'd take that as a positive.
Black Islam has been around since before Cassius Clay changed his name and hasn't caused any issues in the states.
As far as what kind of society we'll have in 20 years, I have no control and things I can't control I don't stress about. I won't be an active participant hen, it's my kids and grandkids problem to deal with. We all play the cards we're dealt, like them or not. _________________ Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pigeon. Went to the bathroom at work to take a p155, guy at the other urinal was working one handed while using his mobile in the other. Seriously?
I didn't look over to see what he was doing but I assume he wasn't videoing the stream to share on social media.

Seeing a tram driver get off the tram and run down the street to berate a woman who apparently did a right turn across the front of the tram in her Porsche 4wd rather than doing a hook turn.
He ran down after she parked and started yelling at her as she got out. He was Indian and she was Asian, I'm not sure she understood a word he was yelling _________________ Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pigeon.
