Do you mean media or players?
I'm happy to be open about gutter journalism. I've always thought it's shit. And the problem is it's never held accountable. It becomes both the template and standard for the next wave of journalists. That's the example they follow.
Equally, I've commended genuinely good football journalism, by people such as Rohan Connolly, Glenn McFarlane, etc. I like these journalists, because they just focus on the footy. They talk about the game. They don't rake through garbage. They don't sensationalise little things, e.g. Damien Barrett making news about Jordan de Goey being caught on his phone while driving.
Obviously, there are going to be big stories, e.g. Jaidyn Stephenson's betting scandal. But you can report that and you can even speculate, without trying to create a story (e.g. a riff inside Collingwood), or condemning events that are unrelated, (e.g. Mark Robinson asking if there should be an asterisk next to Steph's torp goal -- when it was proven this goal actually cost Steph a leg of his multi, did Robinson hold up his hand and say he was wrong?).
Re the players, we just call it the way we see it. We'll give plaudits where they're due, and criticise when they're not. |

When it comes to Collingwood, the question 'why' is often bandied about, particularly as a season has ended in a spectacular, fiery mess.
Now at the Rant, we get to ask, 'Why?'
