Wanting to get the jump on Carlton is my guess.

I wonder if Longmire is a chance?

That'd be the likely outcome you'd think.

No shocks, considering this is his 10th season.

Will tomorrow be his final game, or will he coach the rest of the season?

It’s North Melbourne. The entire team could be swallowed by sea monsters and we still wouldn’t notice.

"Assistant coaches Rhyce Shaw and Darren Crocker are favoured to take control for the rest of a season in which North has struggled to just two wins so far."

I'm a little confused with the notion by some in the media that Brad Scott will just walk into another senior job next season.

While I can accept it's not always easy as an opposition supporter gauging another teams performance from afar when you don't have an intimate knowledge of their list from season to season and whether that team has performed below or above expectations with the talent available I kind of feel any coach who in his 10th season is yet to take his side to a Grand Final shouldn't be seen as the obvious option for any team looking for a new coach.

Scott's best home & away result was 6th in 2014 and they went on to make the preliminary final (suffered a 71pt defeat).

They finished 8th in 2012, 2015 (PF resulted), 2016.

They finished 9th in 2010, his first season, as well as 2011 and 2018.

They finished 10th with 10 wins in 2013.

I guess you can argue they were competitive in 8 out his 10 seasons and these middle of the road results only hampered their ability to access the very best junior talent at the draft.

Ultimately he was good enough to stop them bottoming out but conversely did they ever look like genuine flag material at the start of any September under him?

Scott is certainly a better candidate than some other former senior coaches but whether his record is good enough to entice another club and importantly excite it's supporter base is less clear to me.

North had high expectations in 2014 and 2015, but they underperformed during the home and away season before finding form in the finals.

Hard to think of any other coach who's been at a club for a decade and hasn't made a Grand Final in that time or even finished top 4 during the home and away season.

Brad Scott has confirmed he's coaching his final game today.

Rhyce Shaw to be caretaker for the rest of the season.

...

Psychologically, it may be difficult for people to distinguish between him and his brother, as either player or coach. It is for me, I think. I couldn't even remember which one was which. Looking back, I cannot say how they differed as players... It could be the same for coaching.

"It didn't seem to matter for the first three quarters, with North in control. A stunning fightback from the Dogs, though, saw them hit the front for the first time since the opening minutes, but the Roos composed and emerged 25-point victors in an open, if at times error-riddled game ...

That gave Scott a 106-105 record in his time at North, a tenure which began when appointed in late 2009 and included runs to preliminary final weekend in 2014 and 2015.

Scott is set to elaborate on his future at a Sunday press conference, but his tearful embrace of players after the game seemed to indicate that this was his last game at the helm."

Hearing all kinds of combinations.

How 'bout Shaw to Swans and Longmire to Roos. Razz

Scott Burns has also been linked to the Roos job.

Agree swoop. Why the hell would you want him based on that record. Seems perfect for next year that Longmire comes home and Scott takes a gap year as Leigh Matthews suggested. Gap year being code for ‘go find another career son’. Not in the media though please.
