Theresa May is officially resigning on June 7 (two weeks from today).

Unofficially, she went three months ago. Talk about the walking dead.

Hope they replace her with someone equally useless and the Tories get the boot in 2020. I was almost feeling sorry for her until, in the midst of ineptly screwing up their own country and failing to organise a proverbial piss-up in a brewery, she and her leadership team took to Twitter to triumphantly glower over Julian Assange’s arrest. History will judge them for that as much as their disastrous handling of Brexit.

You mean 2022, David?

May will go down as one of the worst leaders the UK has ever had. I hope either Boris Johnson or Jacob Rees-Mogg replace her.

Ah, shit, you’re right. Was hoping there was some chance of Corbyn getting in before then. Sad

We need to boost the navy, we may have more boats coming.

It's down to two. Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt will face off in a leadership contest for the PMship. Now that the parliamentarians have narrowed the field down to 2 the party members have an election. Boris should manage this in a canter.

I'm actually going for Boris as the lesser (and, hopefully, more incompetent) of two evils. Hunt isn't worthy of the rhyming slang that he otherwise so richly invites.

If Stevo could torpedo him into the Atlantic, then yes. Let's go with that!

"Hunt, a former Remainer, has been tagged by political enemies as “Theresa May in trousers” (or “Tit” for short)."

Laughing

He can **** right off. Boris for PM!

Here is a partisan view on the present situation, but one which is worth reading. Forget the names involved; I honestly can't find anything much better at the moment or I would share it instead, perhaps a sign that the situation is so absurd that no one knows what to write.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/oct/10/boris-johnson-election-unpleasant-surprise-opposition

She overrates Corbyn and Labour, but the shenanigans awaiting Johnson and the Tories as described is not necessarily far-fetched, even if wishful thinking is playing a role.

I just spotted this ABC piece which goes over the mess created in Eton:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-10/brexit-indebted-to-boris-johnson-david-camerons-schools/11560066

Surely Abbott the Wrecker deserves an honorary footnote under the section on Oxford.

Johnson’s Ireland compromise sounds decent – and fair’s fair, it wasn’t exactly an easy problem to resolve – but the rest is a worry.
