"AFLPA chief Paul Marsh said he feared the joint CBA and combined salary cap could create divisions between the men and women players."

I don't know how this would work. Would the AFL force all 18 clubs to have a women's side?? (Or is that already something that's going to happen for sure?)

If there were a combined soft cap with no separate caps, I know how supporters would want that cap to be spent at the Pies: 99.9% on the men's footy department.

So under this proposal, our men's side will be weakened for the sake of the women's team? I would rather we spend our salary cap towards keeping our star male players, thanks.

^ Well, just the football department, I think.

The male players would be subsidising the women, but there would still be a separate male players' hard salary cap (which would just be lower).

"One of the major talking points of the meeting was the soft cap for football department spending.
There was significant support for consolidating the soft caps of both men’s and women’s football in the AFL, though obviously this would mean a different cap for clubs that did not field AFLW teams."
